Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery

Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery We are a friends group dedicated to restoring a Jewish cemetery in Gladwyne, PA (formerly known as Har Hasetim) that had been active from 1890 - 1945.

The mission of the Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery is to ensure dignity for those interred at Har Hasitim and their families while honoring the historical, cultural and natural significance of the site. The cemetery had fallen into disrepair and our group is working on raising awareness of this hidden cemetery as well as raising money to restore it. We regularly volunteer our tim

e to work on restoring and repairing the cemetery, which includes reclaiming the cemetery from the forest that had overtaken it, and we welcome volunteers to assist with our clean up efforts as well as those who would like to learn more about the history of this sacred place.

Monday’s MLK day of service is postponed as the snow will prevent us from getting our groundwork done, but another visitor very much enjoyed the solitude today!

THANKS to the hardworking group from eMoneyAdvisor LLC for their efforts at a recent work day at the Cemetery! Volunteers spread wood chips among our restored graves and installed rain bars to improve storm water drainage. Well done! 👏 👏

We're thrilled that today's Monument to Lost Souls dedication was featured on 6ABC (as well as NBC10), and that we could recognize Greg Jehanian for his masterful skills and commitment to our mission! We thank Rabbi Beth Kalisch of Beth David Reform Congregation for leading our Yizkor (remembrance) service. Click below to see the story!

Hundreds of broken headstones, dating back to the 1860s, were lying in disrepair. A local stonemason was so inspired by our story that he volunteered to help.
