Today begins the Jewish month of Elul, traditionally a month of spiritual priming for the High Holy Days. The Slonimer Rebbe teaches that God calls to us daily through insight, inspiration, and yearnings to return to God. But hearing, understanding, and responding to that divine voice requires preparation and purification. May this Elul season empower us to work to hear God more clearly in our lives.

To be a Jew is to be a child of Jerusalem, regardless of where you were physically born. Said the Israeli author Agnon, "I was born in one of the cities of the Exile. But always I regarded myself as one who was born in Jerusalem." Today, we celebrate the blessing of being reunited with our birthplace, and pray for peace within her borders. Happy Jerusalem Day!

He rocks with a throwback, trip-hippy neo-hasid, Carlebach-style. Soulful, fun, rockin' and a great way to celebrate 65 with the entire family. Refeshments will be available for purchase.
