Har Zion Temple is a sacred congregation, proud of our honorable legacy and our ongoing growth as part of modern day, egalitarian Conservative Judaism.

From our suburban Main Line Philadelphia location, we offer the entire Jewish community, which includes individuals of all commitment levels, a sanctuary for prayer and study. Our dedicated clergy, staff and volunteers work together to make Har Zion a place to celebrate in moments of triumph, to find comfort in times of hardship, and to gain insight in the search for meaning. Our size is one of our strengths, allowing us to create quality, diversity and choice in every aspect of synagogue life. Our many auxiliary groups, working committees, and learning opportunities foster an atmosphere of closeness and community.

From our congregation to the wider community, Har Zion members help shape Jewish life across Greater Philadelphia.

That connection was on display October 20 at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Main Event, featuring Debra Messing in conversation with journalist Jonah Kaplan. Har Zion congregants joined the gathering, and Rabbi Seth Haaz took part in the memorial service before the main program.

We’re especially proud that two members of our Har Zion community, Mark Fishman and Michele S. Levin, serve as Federation’s board co-chairs, continuing our congregation’s longstanding tradition of Jewish communal leadership and service.

Thank you to Federation and everyone helping build a connected, caring and vibrant Jewish future.

This week, Rabbi Seth Haaz represented Har Zion Temple as a member of the National Council of Synagogues at a gathering with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Together, the group held a joint memorial for the victims of October 7 at Saint Joseph’s University, with keynote remarks from Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington.

In remembrance and solidarity, we are grateful for the friendship between our communities as we look forward with hope.

May the memories of those we lost be a blessing.

We are proud to see Har Zion and the Tekiah Campaign featured in the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent.

As Rabbi Haaz shared, “Tekiah is not a campaign about dollars, but about people.” It is a vision for creating spaces, programs and opportunities that bring people together, strengthen relationships and help secure Har Zion’s future for generations to come.

Thank you to the families who have already answered the call and helped build this incredible momentum. We invite you to read the full story and learn more about the vision behind Tekiah.

What a week at Har Zion Temple! Our campers got up close and personal with local heroes to teach safety in a fun, hands-on way our kids won’t forget. 🔥🧯

And we didn’t forget about the grown-ups! Camp moms got to stretch, breathe, & recharge with a Pilates session of their own. 🧘‍♀️✨

Har Zion was proud to host Israel Bonds for their 12th Annual Legal & Financial Services Tribute, honoring our congregants Michael and Brittany Middleman. Mazal tov to both of them on this well-deserved recognition!

Rabbi Haaz helped welcome the evening, introduced Michael and Brittany, and shared remarks as our community gathered to celebrate their leadership and support.

The evening also featured a great panel discussion, Jews in Sports: Owner Edition, moderated by congregant and HSA Co-President Jenny Sacks, with insights from fellow congregant David Adelman of the Philadelphia 76ers.

It was a meaningful night celebrating community, leadership, and the strong connections that make Har Zion so special.
