Before the excitement and celebration of graduation tonight, I wanted to pause and say a few words about the tremendous Gate City High School Class of 2026.
The sense of pride we feel in seeing this great class graduate is only matched by the level of appreciation we have for getting to know them over these past years. Not only did we see them excel through the sports coverage we have tried to provide, but we have seen them grow into beautiful people outside of athletics.
I also want to take a quick moment to say thank you to the families of our seniors. I sincerely appreciate what each family has done over the years to help your child reach this point. What you have sacrificed and done in the past has been seen, noticed, and very much appreciated.
Seniors…be a collector of memories, have adventures, see new things, take road trips with your friends, go out of your way to meet new people, as through all of this you will discover something, the person you were meant to be. Never forget who you are or where you're from, but live and love completely with no regrets....be extraordinary, but be you.
Finally…."Wherever you are going, God has already been there and paved the way for you." (Matthew 6:27-30). Take comfort seniors in knowing that your true friends, your families, and most importantly, God will always be with you wherever you go in life. May you each be blessed with a tremendous life, and it is with everything that I am that I wish you nothing but the best. Please know that you can always call this place a lot of things, but the fact remains, it will always be home. We will always be here to celebrate you, appreciate you, and care about you.
I always leave each post with , but nothing makes me happier to know you did one other thing… …and did it well!
