Book Discussion Group Forming - This Is An Uprising

This Is an Uprising! Our FUSD Social Justice Network is convening a book discussion group on the book "This Is an Uprising: How Nonviolent Revolt Is Shaping the Twenty-First Century" by Mark Engler and Paul Engler. The authors explain Nonviolent Direct Action is not just a philosophy, it is a strategy that we can learn to develop together, and then put into practice. Discussion Group conveners are Arnie Carter, Evelyn Hanssen, and Paul Riederer. To join the group and mailing list announcing future discussion sessions, jus email your contact info to [email protected] and type in the subject line: “I want to join the Uprising study group” or simply call or text Evelyn Hanssen at 720-380-0605 or Paul Riederer at 720-935-2145

Join us for the Inter-Connected Committee Meeting
The Inter-Connected Committee, a sub-committee of The Committee on Shared Ministry and the Leadership Development Committee, brings all committees and leaders, including staff, together in the spirit of shared ministry to share committee updates, strategize, and work together to create a more focused approach to seeking solutions to common concerns–this semi-annual meeting will focus on ministry assessments. All committee members, committee leaders, and those interested in committee work and leadership are welcome to attend.
The meeting is Saturday, June 13, from 8:45 a.m. to noon in the community room. Please RSVP to Jay Mohr mailto:[email protected] by June 8 — breakfast will be served from 8:45 to 9:15.

WHOOOOO is ready? We are excited to announce that elementary OWL (Our Whole Lives) classes will return this fall! For more than 25 years, UU congregations have offered this life-affirming, comprehensive sexuality education program that helps children build self-esteem, healthy relationships, body awareness, and decision-making skills.

Leslie, Ellory Boyd, and Robin Keith recently completed the required UUA training and are preparing to offer an 8-week OWL series for elementary-aged children beginning in September. Depending on interest and family commitments, we will offer a K/1, 1st/2nd, or 2nd/3rd-grade class.

If you have children, grandchildren, or family friends in grades K–3 who may be interested, please complete and share this interest survey by June 8th (https://bit.ly/4nIOIj1) responses will help determine which grade levels we offer.

Workshops are developmentally appropriate and include topics such as bodies, boundaries, families, pregnancy and birth, and babies. Questions? Contact Leslie at [email protected] or speak with her before or after Sunday services.
