"We are a group of people - clergy and laity - elected as delegates from the Western Jurisdiction. Having been granted legislative authority in this role, we took up responsibility for articulating what would enable ministry in our diverse contexts in the West.
All Belong UMC is the product of decades of hoping, years of praying, and months of writing. Our work is knit together with that of the Holy Spirit, who urged us to lay the foundation for the sort of church we have always longed to see.
In response, we have proposed 27 legislative changes to the Book of Discipline to both remove barriers and support greater inclusion of diversity in our United Methodist Church.
We prayerfully offer this as a sign of our faithfulness to Jesus' promise that, truly, all belong in the Body of Christ."
