Did you know why we don’t wait until the eleventh hour to follow Christ?

Many people have heard the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1–16). In the story, some workers are hired early in the morning, while others arrive much later, even at the eleventh hour, just before the workday ends. Yet when the day is over, the master gives the same wage to everyone.

Sometimes people misunderstand this parable. They think it means we can wait until the very end of life to turn to God. “Why struggle now?” someone might say. “I will repent later.” But this is not what Christ is teaching.

The parable is not encouraging delay. It reveals the generosity and mercy of God. The Lord never closes the door to anyone who turns to Him, even at the last moment. His mercy is greater than our failures, and His love reaches even those who come very late.

At the same time, the Church teaches that postponing repentance is spiritually dangerous. We do not know the length of our lives. More importantly, the Christian life is not just about securing a reward at the end. It is about living in communion with God now and forever. Why would someone wait until the last hour to experience the joy, peace, and healing that come from walking with Christ?

Those who begin early receive something precious: a lifetime of growing closer to God. They learn to love, forgive, pray, and serve. Their hearts are gradually transformed. The parable is therefore not an invitation to delay. It is a reminder of God’s mercy and a call to begin today.

Caregivers needed!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FtwvfLxqr/

We are looking for faithful Orthodox Christians to commit six months, one year, or two years to come to the ranch as caregivers for our children. 🫶👼🏿

Every child who comes through our doors, whether for a few days or a few months, presents an opportunity to share Christ’s light—and to see it reflected in their innocent, joyful faces. ❤️❤️❤️

If you or anyone you know feels called to serve, reach out today to Pres. Merilynn Andruchow to apply to become part of this life-changing mission at: [email protected]
