You Have An Inheritance
-People-

Verse of the Day
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

Ephesians 1:18 NIV

Its Awesome to think back to the time i found out that my Grandpa had written a Will & Trust for us Kids.... I was shocked at the thought of it......the First thing my Mom tells Me when I got home ......."Son YOU have an Inheritance, you should claim it before it's too late."

These words echo back to me in this season as I read this Scripture,
Paul makes a statement that is of the same reflection......
"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you"

This Is just as easy as saying "Hey! Claim what's Yours".....and its his prayer that we see it and understand how blessed we are as the Children of GOD not that we earned anything ....LORD knows I didn't earn mine or did anything for my Pa to leave me something.......But its attachments are Grace and By Grace alone ....

But just in case you think that what you Inherit is of some Earthly value to buy and sell in the market Paul Continues and speaks a shocking revelation .....We inherit PEOPLE and RELATIONSHIPS

Check it -
"that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy PEOPLE"

LOL WOW! and all this time i was reading this thinking I was getting a new car or House lol but What God desires and is giving us each day is that we see each other as Precious and Valuable a rich investment for life and a Glorious fellowship......
Our inheritance is found in fellowship with GOD and with his people.....

Challenge for the Week -

SEMESTER 3 - WORD OF WISDOM
SESSION 3

Holding Ourselves Accountable to God and to Each other is the life style of the Church and should remain an important part of a believers life, yet, but one may ask -
Why is HUMAN Integrity so Important when Dealing with gifts of the Spirit ?........

Well lets take a look at Christian Ministry through a Biblical perspective as to Structure- and how the gifts of the Holy Spirit Fall in line with that

LESSON Dialogue:
What Are Spiritual Gifts?

Spiritual gifts can be defined as drives, opportunities, and results given to us by the Godhead to achieve God's supernatural goals. Each person who is born again into God's kingdom takes on a "debt of love" which is designed to motivate a believer to fulfill the law of God. Thus, we are instructed in Romans 13:8 to "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." You see, God gives us spiritual gifts so that we may pay our debt of love. That's integrity at its best.

What Is the Purpose of Spiritual Gifts?

The Spirit-filled experience is more than just "speaking in tongues." In reality, it is coming into the fullness of the gifts and fruit of the Spirit as outlined in the New Testament (I Corinthians 12:7-11; Galatians 5:22-23). In speaking of the gifts, however, exclusivism is never implied. The gifts are placed in the church as resources to be utilized at the point of need for ministry in the body. This means that not every believer will have the same gifts as every other believer. Rather, the Holy Spirit is the Author and Dispenser of the gifts to bring about integrity in worship and kingdom expression

The full potential of a life, a marriage, a family, or a church will not be experienced until there is a clear, Biblical understanding of spiritual gifts. For this reason, the Apostle Paul writes in I Corinthians 12:1: "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant."

In I Corinthians 12:7-11, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are listed. Their purpose is specific - to "profit" the body of the church. The Greek word for profit is sumphero which means "to bring together, to benefit, to be advantageous," which is experienced as the body is strengthened in its life together and expanded through its ministry of evangelism. These nine gifts are specifically available to every believer as the Holy Spirit distributes them (I Corinthians 12:11). They are not to be merely acknowledged in a passive way, but rather are to be actively welcomed and expected (I Corinthians 13:1; 14:1).

Who Is Given A Spiritual Gift?

Every Christian is given a spiritual gift as soon as he or she becomes born again. At that very moment the Holy Spirit will unite with that person's spirit (Romans 8:16-17). When we are born physically, we possess certain natural abilities. When we are born again spiritually, God takes these natural abilities and turns them into the means by which He can work through us supernaturally. Jesus "gave gifts unto men ... For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith..." (Ephesians 4:8, 12-14).

How Many Gifts Does Each Christian Have?

There are three types of gifts: motivation, ministry, and manifestation. We only have one motivational gift and the possibility of many ministry and manifestation gifts. These gifts are outlined further below. The Apostle Paul writes:
"Now there are diversities of gifts (motivation gifts of the Father), but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, (ministry gifts of the Son) but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit (gifts of the Holy Spirit) is given to every man to profit withal"
(I Corinthians 12:4-7).
What is the Apostle Paul trying to tell us? Well, he is simply saying that there are three categories of spiritual gifts:

Three Categories of Spiritual Gifts

Source Reference Category
Gifts of the Father Romans 12:6-8 Motivation
Gifts of the Son Ephesians 4:11
I Corinthians 12:28 Ministry
Gifts of the Holy Spirit I Corinthians 12:7-11 Manifestation

The gifts of the Father are motivational gifts. The Greek word for "gift" is charisma which comes from the word char meaning "joy." Charis is the Greek word for grace, which is God giving us the desire and power to do His will (Philippians 2:13). The term motivation is simply defined as the work of God's grace.

These seven gifts (which can be found in Romans 12:6-8) seem to characterize basic motivations or inherent tendencies in a person by reason of the Creator's unique workmanship in their initial gifting. A believer usually displays one dominant motivational gift although he or she may have a small mixture of the other six. Peter writes, "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God" (I Peter 4:10). Thus by having one primary motivational gift, we are able to nurture and develop it.

The gifts of the Son (Jesus Christ) are administration or ministry gifts. The term administration comes from the Greek work diakanion from which we get our English word deacon. This word relates to the ministries and outreach of the local church. These gifts (Ephesians 4:11; I Corinthians 12:28) are pivotal in assuring that the motivation and manifestation gifts are being applied in the body of the church. These gifts are confirmed by ordination.
(I Timothy 4:14).

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are gifts of manifestation or operation. The term operations comes from the Greek word energeia. Its English equivalent is energy. As God gives power through our motivational gift, the effects produced by it are the operations or manifestations of the Spirit. These nine gifts of manifestation (I Corinthians 12:7-11) are given to profit the body of the church.

To summarize, it is our responsibility to develop our motivational gifts, it the church's responsibility to confirm ministry gifts, and it is the Holy Spirit's function to reward the use of the gifts for the profit of all.

The Nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Although I briefly highlighted the three categories of gifts from the Godhead, the remainder of this teaching will only focus on the third set of gifts: the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

God has given His people nine mighty gifts of the Holy Spirit to enable them to mature spiritually, edify others, and do the work of the ministry. Although these gifts of God are perfect, the manifestation of these gifts are sometimes not so perfect because they are manifested through an imperfect channel: men and women.

However, perfect or imperfect, it is still God's will that the Church have all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation and that every believer be open to the working of these gifts in their life. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul confirms this statement when he exhorted God's people by writing: "That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 'So that ye come behind in no gift;' waiting for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ." (I Corinthians 1:5-7). Therefore, these gifts are not only essential for spiritual maturity and ministry, but they also prepare you for Christ's return.

The gifts are the spiritual senses of the Church. Just as we have five physical senses that allow us to function in the natural realm (world), so we also have nine gifts of the Holy Spirit (the "spiritual senses") that enable us to function properly in the spiritual realm.

These gifts are identified in I Corinthians 12:8-11
"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discering of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
These nine gifts can be broken down into three categories:

Revelation Gifts - gifts that reveal something
Word of Wisdom
Word of Knowledge
Discerning of Spirits
Power Gifts - gifts that do something
Faith
Healings
Miracles
Inspiration Gifts - gifts that say something
Prophecy
Diverse Tongues
Interpretation of Tongues

Purposes of the Gifts
Spiritual maturity
You cannot strengthen someone who is weak unless you are mature yourself. Spiritual gifts help you mature so you can edify the Church and strengthen others
(I Corinthians 14:12).

Edification
Spiritual gifts are used for the edification of the Church and are tools that bring us into spiritual maturity: "Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church."
(I Corinthians 14;12)

Credentials
A credential is having evidence or testimony concerning your authority. When the gifts are displayed, it publicly confirms that you are a true believer, an ambassador of God: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover ... And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen." (Mark 16:17-18,20)

We are identified as believers through the gifts of the Spirit: "God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost..." (Hebrews 2:4)

Spiritual Prosperity
I Corinthians 12:7 declares, "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." The gift of the Holy Spirit can be compared to a precious stone which brings prosperity. Proverbs17:8 says that "A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth."
Can We Have All of The Gifts?

The revelation, power, and inspiration gifts were all operative in the ministry of the Apostle Paul. God wants you to have these gifts of the Spirit; that is why the Bible encourages us to "covet earnestly the best gifts..." (I Corinthians 12:31).

How to Receive These Gifts?

These nine spiritual gifts come by prayer, so ask for them, desire them, pray to receive them, and covet earnestly the best gifts (I Corinthians 12:31).

Personal Rewards of Spiritual Gifts

Knowing we have a gift that is an asset to the body of Christ, we are able to achieve a deeper level of self-acceptance and purpose in life. As we exercise our gifts, we experience personal fulfillment and a deep sense of joy. By concentrating on our gifts, we achieve maximum fruitfulness with minimum weariness.

SEMESTER 3 - WORD OF WISDOM
SESSION 2

Present Opportunity - Using the Gift of Wisdom .

2 Areas of Discussion
What's the right way ?
What's the wrong way?

Dialogue:

The Word Of Wisdom
By Rodney W. Francis

"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:8 , KJV).

"Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments [extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit ] and they vary, but the (Holy) Spirit remains the same.

And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served ].

And there are distinctive varieties of operation - of working to accomplish things - but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all.

But to each one is given the manifestation of the (Holy) Spirit - that is, the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit - for good and profit.

To one is given in and through the (Holy) Spirit [the power to speak] a message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge and understanding according to the same (Holy) Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:4-8 , AMP.).

WHAT IS THE WORD OF WISDOM?

The word "word" is translated from the Greek word "logos" meaning "the spoken word; the word spoken, not written" (Bullinger's).

"Logos" is also translated in other parts of the New Testament as:

"a word or saying";
"an account which one gives by word of mouth";
"to speak well of";
"to praise, to celebrate with praises";
"to invoke blessings upon a person";
"to consecrate a thing with solemn prayers, to ask God's blessing on a thing";
"to cause to prosper, to make happy, to bestow blessings on."
A summary, then, of the usage of the word "logos" is to speak in such a way as to build, bless and cause others to prosper in the Lord. That's what the Gifts of the Spirit are about. They are not to put down or to be used in a way that criticizes individuals or a local body of believers in a public meeting.

The word "wisdom" comes from the Greek word "sophia" or "sofia" and means:

"cleverness, skill; a right application of knowledge" (Bullinger's);
"the ability or result of an ability to think and act utilizing knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight" (Collins).
The Gift of the word of wisdom enables one to express the Holy Spirit's revelation/knowledge/answers to either an individual or to a group of people, church, etc., in a way that surpasses any previous "natural ability" to input into the situation. It carries the mark of the wisdom of God! And God's wisdom beats all other wisdom known to man.

Wisdom is applying knowledge with skill.

The word of wisdom is needed, therefore, in our lives to enable us to share the other Gifts of the Spirit correctly. For example, it is one thing to receive a word of prophecy, knowledge, faith, healing, etc., but it is entirely another thing to deliver that gift in such a way as to allow it to have its fullest impact.

Many people do receive information and gifts in the Holy Spirit, but do not always know how to deliver, nor to whom. If we do not minister in God's wisdom we can make mistakes, cause disrespect to the gifts, show insensitivity to the person or people we are delivering the information to, and even cause offence. The gift may be right, but the manner of dispensing it may be wrong. The word of wisdom helps us to deliver it right - "the right application of knowledge."

How very important it is that we apply things rightly. In the Biblical account of the wise and foolish man who built their houses - one on a rock, the other on the sand - the wise man rightly applied the word of Jesus. The foolish man heard exactly the same words from the mouth of the same Jesus, but did not apply them correctly. As a result he came to ruin (Matthew 7:24-27 ; Luke 6:46-49 ). The word of wisdom comes from the mouth of Jesus. Let's make sure we are listening and acting accordingly!

The well-known commentator, William Barclay, has this to say on the word of wisdom:

"Clement of Alexandria defined 'sophia' ('wisdom') as 'the knowledge of things human and divine and of their causes.'

Aristotle described it as 'striving after the best ends and using the best means.' This is the highest kind of wisdom; it comes not so much from thought as from communion with God. It is the wisdom which knows God ...

Spiritual wisdom is 'sophia.'

'Sophia' is the power to confirm and to commend the truth with wise and intelligent argument, once it has been intuitively grasped ...

So, then, the real Church will have the clear-sighted wisdom which can act for the best in any given situation, the wisdom which can instinctively recognize and grasp the truth when it sees it; and the wisdom which can make the truth intelligible to the thinking mind, and persuasively commend it to others."

Walter A. Elwell in his "Evangelical Dictionary of Theology" writes on the word of wisdom:

"An important part of the Spirit's endowment, so far as the Christian community was concerned, was wisdom. This gift would communicate ability to receive and explain 'the deep things of God' (1 Corinthians 2:9-16 ). In God's dealings with men much is mysterious, and the ordinary Christian is often in need of a word that will throw light upon his situation; and the person filled by the Spirit to fulfil this ministry is through the Spirit given the word of wisdom. Because of the strong sense of revelation or insight implied in the phrase, perhaps this gift was akin to a revelational utterance by the Christian prophet."

SOME EXAMPLES:

Some examples of the word of wisdom in Scripture are:

The Apostle Paul in dealing with the spirit of divination in a young lady (Acts 16:16-18 ).
Paul did not "rush in" straightaway and deliver the girl. He waited "many days" before confronting it. That was wisdom. This example does not mean that a similar case would necessarily be handled the same way. We may need to act today, or tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Let wisdom prevail! Wisdom gets the timing right!

The Apostle Peter in dealing with Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-16 ).
Peter used the word of wisdom to make sure that both Ananias and Sapphira exposed their own evil doings and so suffered the consequences of their own actions. He did not accuse Sapphira on the confession of her husband alone, but wisely heard from her as well.

The Apostle Paul in the healing of the cripple (Acts 14:7-10 ).
Here is a good example of spiritual knowledge skilfully and rightly applied. The cripple's faith rose as Paul preached. Paul perceived in the spirit what was happening and, through the word of wisdom, knew the right moment to release the man's faith to be healed. He was healed.

Solomon passing judgment on a child (1 Kings 3:16-28 ).
A good Old Testament example is that of Solomon passing judgment on the women who were arguing over their two children - one dead and one alive. Both women were claiming that the remaining live child was their's and the dead child was the other's. Solomon called for a sword to divide the remaining live child in two, so the women could have half each! When Solomon made that decision known, the true mother of the living child cried out to give her child to the other woman (in order to save its life). Solomon then knew who the real mother was. This judgment from Solomon caused all Israel to "see that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment" (1 Kings 3:28 ).

We, today, need the word of wisdom in our lives as we seek to fulfil the purposes of God and to lead others into all that which He has for them. Let's be alive in the Holy Spirit and allow Him to share His wisdom, revelation, knowledge and understanding to us in ways that will tremendously bless those we meet.

Semester 3
Session 1

What is the Gift of WISDOM or Word of Wisdom ?

Main Dialogue:

To start off I must say that the Church must return to the core value of our Doctrine and uphold the Teachings of Christ, Jesus said that when the Holy spirit would come to dwell in our hearts that Gifts of the Spirit would take full Effect IN US and THROUGH US ...that's the life of a real Believer.

So we see that In Christianity, the word of wisdom is a spiritual gift listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8 given by the Holy Spirit. The function that this gift is given varies. Some Christians see in this gift a prophetic-like function. Others see in the word of wisdom a teaching function. This gift is closely related with the gift of the word of knowledge.

Description: Talking Point

You must Note that Commentators have often placed this gift within the larger context of the biblical wisdom tradition, especially references to God’s secret wisdom in 1 Corinthians 2:6-10 and elsewhere in the letter. The secret wisdom pertains to the Gospel that Paul preached. This wisdom relates to that which God had previously hidden and destined for the glory of believers. It is a wisdom that speaks of those things that God has prepared for those who love him. These emphases from the broader context of the Corinthian letter could imply that the word of wisdom involves insight into God's plan of salvation and the proclamation of Christ crucified.[1][2][3]

Commentators have noted both a prophetic and a teaching character to the word of wisdom. Among Pentecostals and charismatics, the gift is often defined as a revelation of the Holy Spirit that applies scriptural wisdom to a specific situation that a Christian community faces.[2] According to Pentecostal theologian Donald Gee, "One is deeply conscious that the supremely right thing has been said and the true course of action indicated. No further appeal is desired because the heart rests in a calm satisfaction that the will of God has been revealed".[4]

Some commentators translate the term as "teaching of wisdom" and prefer to focus on the gift's function in teaching the truths of scripture.[2] The Catholic Encyclopedia defines it as "the grace of propounding the Faith effectively, of bringing home to the minds and hearts of the listener with Divine persuasiveness, the hidden mysteries and the moral precepts of Christianity".[3] Donald Gee writes:

there ofttimes comes shining forth a revelation in words that make our hearts burn within us. Many of us have experienced the holy awe and the thrilling exaltation of spirit that accompanies a ministry of the spiritual gift of the word of wisdom on these lines. We have recognized once again 'not the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth.' And with the recognition has come a deep thankfulness that these glorious ministrations of the Spirit are still active in the church today.

Think on this during the Week ahead...... Journal Your thoughts.
