The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
September 08

Today, we celebrate the birth of Mary—the dawn of hope and salvation for the whole world.

Chosen and prepared by God to become the Mother of Jesus, Mary’s life reminds us that God often begins His greatest works quietly. Her birth points us towards Christ, the true Light and Saviour of the world.

Like Mary, each of us has a place in God’s plan. We may not always understand where He is leading us, but we can learn from her humility, faith and willingness to say “yes.”

On Mary’s birthday, let us ask for the grace to trust God more deeply and to bring the hope of Christ to those around us. How can I say “yes” to God and become a bearer of hope today?

Happy Birthday, Blessed Mother! Pray for us.

For the 2026 Annual Novena Church Procession (aka ANP), Novena Church's theme, "Make Her Known, Make Him Known," offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help draws the faithful closer to Jesus. To Make Mary known is therefore to help the faithful encounter Jesus more deeply through prayer, trust, surrender, compassion, and mission - be it through music, family & marriages, our loved ones, the future generation, or across regions.

ANP "Make Her Know, Make Him Known" Novena Reflection series
Week 9: Mission III — “Here I Am, Send Me” (Isaiah 6:8 )

Having received (HER) Mary’s help, the faithful are challenged to be sent to become instruments of the title “perpetual help” to others to make Jesus (HIM) known.

Reflection: What is God calling me to do in this season of my life? Am I willing to obey even when the outcome is uncertain?

Jesus reminds us that faith should bring freedom, not burdens. May we draw strength from the Eucharist and serve the poor and needy with love, compassion and generosity.

We remember especially the many petitions entrusted to this Novena for elderly parents who are ill and feeble. We pray in a special way for elderly parents who are sick or growing frail. Mother of Perpetual Help, accompany them with your tender care, and lead them always to your Son, whose mercy is their strength and whose presence is their peace.

Dear Mother Mary, my mother, who is 99 years old, is in the Assisi Hospice. She is not eating or drinking, and is deteriorating. She has been suffering for the last 2 or more years. Please intercede to God for her to have a peaceful passing.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, please intercede for my parents who are gravely ill, despondent, and isolated due to the situation at home. I pray that God will grant them a caring solution that will allow them to live out what time they have in peace and love. May my parents feel the grace of God’s closeness, and may God also help me to discern what is to be done for them, and to help me with what is needed too. Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us!

Dearest Mother, may God grant my earthly mother, who is stricken with late-stage cancer, the strength in body and spirit to endure each day with hope and peace. Bless the hands of those who care for her to bring her relief and peace, even if her path leads toward eternal rest.

Asking for the intercession of Mama Mary for suitable work for me to help provide for the medical needs of my ill parents

Pray for my family to come closer to God. Strength in caring for elderly parents.

Devotion matures into discipleship. Believers are called not only to pray, but to accompany others toward Christ through faith, teaching, and being a living example.
