As a ‘daughter parish’ of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, the Church of Sts Peter and Paul was completed in 1870 and became the “seat” of the Chinese community in Singapore. 12.07.26 Anticipated Celebrations for the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

“Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you. All things pass; God never changes.” — St Teresa of Ávila

Our parish community came together to celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with anticipated Masses celebrated over the weekend.

The Discalced Carmelites have a special devotion to Our Lady , who is honoured as their Patroness and Mother. The tradition goes back to the early hermits who lived on Mount Carmel and dedicated a chapel there to Our Lady, placing their contemplative life under her protection and seeking to imitate her faithful response to God.

On Sunday evening, our celebration continued with a beautiful rosary procession around the church compound, as we honoured Mary and entrusted ourselves to Our Lady's loving intercession.

At the end of Mass, parishioners who desired to be enrolled into the Brown Scapular were invited forward to be invested. The scapular is a sign of our devotion to Our Lady and a reminder of our desire to follow Christ under Mary's maternal care.

May Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, guide us in our prayer life and faithful discipleship — always leading us closer to her Son.

🌹Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us! Lead us closer to Jesus.

"After your resurrection you gathered your Church around Peter:
gather all your people now into the unity for which you prayed.
– Lord, be with your people.

You sent Paul as an apostle to all men:
let your good news be preached today through all creation.
– Lord, be with your people."
(Vespers, the Liturgy of the Hours)

In addition to the His priestly and kingly office, we too, as the people of God, have a share in Christ's prophetic office. With a supernatural sense of faith, let us "adhere unfailingly to that faith and deepen (our) understanding and witness to it" (CCC 785).

As a parish, we had gathered together in unity as we jointly prepared in the triduum themed, 'Image of God', led by our assistant parish priest, Fr Bernard Wee OCD.

As a parish, may we endeavour towards Christian perfection, and grow in the theological virtues of charity through our thoughts, words and deeds. Let us pray for the grace to see our neighbours, our enemies and ourselves, as loved and precious creations, wonderfully formed in the image and likeness of God.

As a parish, let us be continue to be witnesses to the Good News.

21.06.26 Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

'A father’s love is often quiet, hidden, and faithful.'
St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Happy Father’s Day! 👨‍👧‍👦

Today, we give thanks to God for all fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and spiritual fathers who reflect the loving heart of our Heavenly Father. Through their sacrifices, guidance, and quiet acts of love, fathers help shape families grounded in faith, hope, and love.

Like St. Joseph, may our fathers continue to lead with humility, courage, and trust in God. We pray that the Lord bless them with strength in their vocation, wisdom in their decisions, and joy in their families.

Let us keep all fathers in our prayers today — especially those who are struggling, those who are absent, and those who have gone before us into eternal life.
