07.06.26 Feast of Corpus Christi.

This divine Sacrament is principally instituted that we may receive the body and blood of Our Saviour with his life-giving life; as clothing covers primarily the body of man, although, because the soul is united to the body, it consequently covers the soul - the understanding, the memory, and the will.

Walk quite simply in this belief and often salute the heart of this divine Saviour, who to testify us his love, has willed to clothe himself with the appearances of bread, in order to remain most familiarly and most intimately in us, and near our heart" - Letter of St Francis de Sales Letters to a Bernadine sister on the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament

The solemnity of Corpus Christi celebrates the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist, the pinnacle of all other sacraments which are ordained towards. It contains Christ himself (ipse Christus), as opposed to all the other sacraments which contains the power of Christ (virtus Christi) (ST III, q.65, a.3)

May we never take each Holy Communion lightly or out of routine and award the necessary reverence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

04.04.26 Easter Vigil in the evening of Holy Saturday.

"It was to a virgin woman that the birth of the Son of God was announced, it was to a fallen woman that His Resurrection was announced [...] Only purity and sinlessness could welcome the all holy Son of God into the world; hence, Mary Immaculate met Him at the door of earth in the city of Bethlehem. But only a repentant sinner, who herself risen from the grave of sin to the newness of life in God, could fittingly understand the triumph over sin [...] destined to feel the exaltation of bearing tidings of His Resurrection." (Life of Christ, Fulton Sheen)

Through the message of an angel, the women were directed to tell the disciples about the good news of the Resurrection. This Easter, we recall our newness of our lives in God by virtue of our baptism. As sharers of the prophetic office of Christ (CCC 783, 785), we are invited to light each other's candle with the little flame entrusted to us from the Paschal Candle. As one mystical body, may we, through the grace of God, hold onto this treasure of our salvation and bear eschatological witness to the kingdom of heaven.

Let us joyfully fill the world with the sweet accords of this heavenly perfume of the Good News. Let us hold onto the hope that God will continue to bring us towards Christian perfection in His time.

02.04.26 Maundy Thursday - The Evening of the Lord's Supper

So when he had washed their feet and put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, “Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master,’ and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” John 13:12–15

The celebration of the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday is one of the most spiritually enriching liturgical celebrations of the year. The Mass begins with an empty tabernacle. After the readings and homily, the ritual of the washing of the disciples’ feet takes place. The Mass culminates with the celebration of the Eucharist, which is then carried in procession to the Altar of Repose for adoration by the faithful until midnight, during which time we are invited to spend an hour with our Lord, in communion with Him during His Agony in the Garden.

The Gospel for the Mass, from Saint John, presents the beginning of Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples. Jesus performs the act of a servant by washing the disciples’ feet. Though this surprises them, especially Peter, Jesus insists, saying, “Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me” (John 13:8). Our Lord says the same to us.

Our Lord calls on us to reflect on the gift of His Sacrifice, and also calls all of us to participate in His self-gift. He strengthens us in the regular reception of Reconciliation and the Eucharist, so that we may too turn our attention to others to lay our lives down selflessly as He has done.

May we continue to be deeply transformed with each participation at the Lord's supper. Amen.
