Recently Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club lost one of its (ex) members.

Stefanus’ has been battling with aggressive tumor on his chest and shoulder bone. He went through surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy for years. However, the tumor came back again for the last time, it was mutated and was much more aggressive than before. He passed away on 19 Mar 2021, St Joseph’s day.

Stefanus is multi-talented. A kind, generous in all ways, determined, encouraging, humorous, and strong in his faith. He served the church in various ways, together with his wife, from the very beginning until the end of his life. He helped in some GLH episodes in audio production, even during his treatment. He will always be missed.

Eternal rest grant unto Stefanus, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

St Joseph, please pray for Stefanus and assist him on his way to spend the eternal rest with our Lord Jesus in heaven.

Amen.

This is the last piece that Stefanus composed, arranged and recorded the piece himself last year after his last surgery.

Sang by his 2 beautiful kids, Yohandra and Alton.

For our Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club's Chapter Meeting this October, the theme for our meeting was Holy Eucharist.

As per our very homely meetings, we provide a highly encouraging environment for all to speak, and to preach God. We had 3 prepared speeches, 3 project evaluations and a highly awesome Table Topics Session by Madame President Carolyn Street. She was very creative and everyone in the room got a chance to squeeze out their creative juices while learning phrasal verbs!

We are a unique club in the sense that our clubs have a Catholic based theme, but yet at the same time, we open our arms to everyone who is interested in learning.

We meet on 1st Tuesdays in the evening, 7:30pm GMT+8. Please drop us a message if you are interested in joining us!

As a club, we pray for everyone and the world to be out of this difficult and unprecedented time as soon as we can. Let's keep ourselves safe, as we pray for others around us.

For our chapter meeting this evening, the theme was The Sacraments- Confirmation. We even had a visiting Toastmaster from India, Bharat Shah joining us for our Zoom meeting.

The Ice Breaker session was held by our Madame President Carolyn Street, while Celia Jacqueline Lim helmed the Toastmaster of the Day role. Clement Wee did the opening and closing prayers, and Gillian Ong did the Saint of the Day "St. Teresa of Calcutta".

The prepared speech givers were two gentlemen- Terence Lim did his Ice Breaker Speech, and Raymond Zhang did his speech on Research and Presenting. The evaluators were Celia and Bharat.

Clara Tan was the Table Topics Master, and her topics were all very thought provoking! President Carolyn provided an insightful General Evaluation before we concluded the meeting with her closing address.

As usual, our meetings are homely. Moving from physical meetings to Zoom meetings does not diminish the learning- we can get to view ourselves on screen while adding value to those around us.

We meet on 1st Tuesdays. See you next time, and if you are interested, do drop us a message here!

For our Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club meeting of August, the theme of our meeting was The Sacrements, specifically, we focused on Part 1, Baptism.

Our member Gillian Ong did the Saint of the Day, while our prepared speech givers are Raymond Zhang and Celia Jacqueline Lim. In particular, Celia Jacqueline Lim did her keynote style speech for her Baptism journey. Our newest member Terence Lim took on the role of the timer and he was indeed creative!

The speech evaluators were visiting Toastmaster Tere Terence and Clara Tan.

President Carolyn Street helmed the Ice Breaker session, as well as the Table Topics session.

Unlike the conventional Toastmasters Clubs, we add a Catholic flavour to our programme, and we are all proud of it at Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club.

We collectively pray for Singapore, and the world, to be out of the woods as soon as we can. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to those who are suffering in this pandemic, as well as to our frontline workers who are working very hard to keep the world safe.

We meet on the 1st Tuesdays of every month, and do get in touch with us to join in for our next meeting!

In Toastmasters, the leadership cycle begins on 1 July every year and lasts for 12 months. Today is our very first meeting of the new term, and it also marks the day whereby this club is realigned to Area A3. We belong to a much bigger family, Toastmasters District 80 Division A. The new Exco was being installed by our Area A3 Director, Alvin Teng.

Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club, under the leadership of Immediate Past President, Celia Jacqueline Lim, has survived some pretty turbulent times. We thank her for her wonderful leadership in this past term.

The theme of tonight's meeting was "Praying for Singapore". As a club, we collectively pray for the safety of Singapore, and we hope that Singapore, alongside the rest of the world, would be out of the woods as soon as possible.

Carolyn Street, a veteran Toastmaster, takes the helm as the President this term. We are sure that she would take this club to even greater heights!

Our homely club meets every First Tuesdays. Please feel free to join us for our August meeting- drop us a message here for the Zoom link.

See you very soon!

Today is the first day that Singapore has exited our Circuit Breaker period and moved to Phase 1, and we had our June chapter meeting. The theme of the day was "The Sacred Heart".

President Celia Jacqueline Lim was the Toastmaster of the Day and she did the Saint of the Day segment, titled Saint Elmo (Erasmus of Formia).

We had three prepared speeches this evening, done by our members Donna, Gillian and Carolyn Street. The evaluators were Carolyn, Clara Tan and Raymond Zhang.

Celine Goh was the Table Topics Master for this evening and she had a very interesting array of quotes for her segment. We had a great time cracking our brains thinking of responses.

Alicia Curtis, DTM, Division Director of Lachlan Division, District 70, Sydney, dropped in last minute and she came in bang on time for our Table Topics Session. She cracked us up with her kiss on Mr Potato!

We are thankful that even in such hard times like these, our learning and fun at Emmaus Catholic Toastmasters Club still carries on as usual!

Come next month, our club will be realigned to Toastmasters District 80 Division A. We look forward to exciting initiatives next term with our new Division Director, Raymond Zhang.

We meet 1st Tuesdays every month. Drop us a message here if you are keen to join and see you in July!
