He recognized the role of previous Popes in legitimizing the subjugation of non-Christians.

Furthermore, the Pope condemned contemporary forms of slavery, particularly those resulting from the demand for rare earth minerals, highlighting the plight of individuals coerced into working in mines under conditions akin to slavery, especially in local regions. He emphasized that such practices must cease.
