We run the three-year Ignatian Spirituality Course (in-person at the London Jesuit Centre or via Zoom) and also the one-year Ignatian Enrichment course for experienced spiritual directors (weekly on Zoom). This course introduces people to the richness of the spirituality of Ignatius of Loyola (1491 - 1556) who was a pioneer in proposing ways for the individual to attain spiritual freedom. His refl

"Ignatian Enrichment” is a unique, one-year, online-only course for experienced spiritual directors. It is also a popular choice for graduates of our three-year Ignatian Spirituality Course [“ISC”].

IE allows you to:
* Learn the theory behind the Spiritual Exercises
* Practise leading a directee through the full Exercises in daily life
* Take a deep dive into Ignatian discernment

Applicants will:
* Have completed training for offering spiritual direction
* Be involved in accompanying others on a regular basis
* Have been engaged in the ministry of spiritual direction for several years
* Be receiving support from on-going supervision
* Have made, or currently be in the process of making, the full Spiritual Exercises, either by the 30-day retreat or in Daily Life (also known as the 19th Annotation)

IE runs on Thursdays, 11am- 4pm. over 28 weeks, on Zoom, from October 2026 to July 2027 and costs £2000. UK and international students are welcome.

Nicola Smedley trained on LCSD’s 3-year Encounter Course and has 4 yIgnatian Spirituality generally and Herbert Alphonso’s book, Discovering Your Personal Vocation, spoke deeply to Nicola around the question, “and how shall I live?” Since training with the Ignatian Enrichment course herself, and subsequently becoming a tutor, Nicola accompanies others through the Exercises and discernment of spirits is at the heart of her ongoing direction. Nicola has a God-given passion for our fragile planet and sings with with the London Climate Choir.

“Ignatian Enrichment” is a unique, one-year, online-only course for experienced spiritual directors. It is also a popular choice for graduates of our three-year Ignatian Spirituality Course [“ISC”], who have themselves gone on to become spiritual directors, as well as those who have trained elsewhere.

Fees for the coming academic year run at £2000 with generous bursaries sometimes available for UK residents upon application to The Society of Retreat Conductors (after offer of a place) We also welcome international students.
There is an application fee of £100, deductible from course fees. Application forms can be found on our website (https://www.artsd.org.uk/ignatian-top-up/) or by emailing the administrator ([email protected]).
