Colombia Becomes Second Country in the World to Recognize Israeli Sovereignty Over the Golan Heights
Colombia's Foreign Ministry became only the second UN member state to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the territory captured from Syria in 1967 and annexed by Israel in 1981, after the United States recognized it in 2019. "The Government of Colombia recognises Israeli sovereignty over this territory, as well as that State's right to protect itself against external threats," the ministry said, adding that "maintaining Israel's control and sovereignty over the Golan Heights is an essential component of its national defence." Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said he will "continue to act so that more countries join" the U.S. and Colombia in recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan. The move follows new Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella's inauguration and campaign pledge of closer ties with Israel and Washington.

Israeli search and rescue soldiers are seen operating in Colombia, footage shows, following the earthquake that struck the South American nation.

Israel’s 80-strong delegation, named Brit Re’im, or covenant of friends, consists of IDF soldiers and officers from the Home Front Command, and officials from the Foreign and Defense Ministries. They departed on Thursday night.

“As you know, we have experience in Israel. Sometimes, unfortunately, our enemies who launch missiles at those densely populated civilian areas also leave civilians under the rubble. And all that knowledge developed for Israeli citizens, today we are making available to Colombian citizens. Hopefully, we can contribute our small part here,” the IDF’s Spanish-language spokesman, Maj. (res.) Roni Kaplan says to reporters in Colombia, in footage published by AFP.

“The intention is to work here side by side, meaning we are coordinating here with the local teams to try to contribute. Hope in Judaism is not something that we have to wait for in the future, it is something that we have to work toward. And that is what we are doing, we are working,” Kaplan adds.

A statement from the IDF and Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the delegation will distribute food and water to victims of this week’s deadly earthquake, and will embark on search-and-rescue missions.

"Shalom in our God of War and Peace,
We are grateful for God's protection over Yair Rengifo from our congregation, Nachalat Yeshua. Last week he was seriously injured during a tank ambush in Lebanon. After many prayers from Israel and abroad, he was discharged from the hospital within days and was able to attend our Shabbat service, where he shared how God spared his life. Three other soldiers remain hospitalized. Please continue praying for them and for all the soldiers who have known war for most of their lives."
* And congratulations to Howard and Randi's family where daughter- in-law Joyanna has given them a new grandson! Mazel tov!
"On Friday, our entire family gathered, both in person and by Zoom, for a special day of fasting and prayer. The next morning, we received wonderful news from Tulsa: our daughter-in-law Joyanna gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the car on the way to the hospital! By God's grace, a friend and former nurse was present to help. Mother and baby are doing well. This is our ninth grandchild and first Bass grandson.
In the midst of war, uncertainty, and personal challenges, we are reminded that God is both the Lord of Hosts and the Prince of Peace. Through Yeshua the Messiah, who conquered sin and death through His sacrifice and resurrection, we have a peace that surpasses understanding.
God remains faithful to His promises. Despite the turmoil in the world, He is fulfilling His purposes for Israel and the nations. Let us continue to trust Him, cling to Him, and believe His Word. He is separating light from darkness and will ultimately establish His righteous kingdom.
What a great and awesome God He is!
