David & Jonathan Foundation

David & Jonathan Foundation Supporting Messianic Believers in Israel The David & Jonathan Foundation focuses on partnering Churches around the world with Messianic Congregations in Israel.

Messianic congregations in Israel have many needs. However, the biggest need is friendship, prayer and the sense of belonging to the body of Christ (Messiah). The believers are a small minority in Israel. Many times they are persecuted and feel isolated. Knowing there are other believers out there that care and stand with them in their trials is a great encouragement to them. We provide the opport

unity to partner with these Congregations. Should your church wish to partner with a Messianic congregation in Israel, D&J will assist you to find a suitable group with whom you can make contact, send reciprocal newsletters, visit each other and, where possible, support them with material and financial blessings. We undertake regular tours to the messianic Congregations in Israel. Join us on our next tour and meet the leadership of several Congregations. The tours include all the regular sites as well as visiting several Congregations along the way.

Passing the Baton – New CEO Announcement

Dear Friends of D&J,

The Board of David & Jonathan is pleased to announce a leadership transition. Following the resignation of Jaco le Grange as CEO, the Board has elected Jaco Carstens as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Jaco, together with his wife Marcelle and son Elan, has been closely connected to D&J since its early days. He brings fresh energy and a tech-savvy perspective to guide the Foundation into the future.

Recognizing the importance of generational renewal, the Jaco will establish a vibrant young committee to steer the organization forward. At the same time, continuity will be ensured as existing Directors -Jack Carstens (Chairman), Ps. Nic Kruyer, and Libby Norton— continue to serve in statutory and advisory roles. This balance of experience and innovation is seen as a healthy step for the life of the Foundation.

Beyond his new role at D&J, Jaco also manages portfolios at Salem Biblical Gardens, creating opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit between the two entities.

We remain deeply grateful for the faithful service of past Board members, including Chris and Barbara Clayton, Eric and Gill Palmer (of blessed memory), and many others who have contributed over the past 26 years. Their dedication has been instrumental in advancing our mission: helping local congregations form covenant friendships with Messianic congregations in Israel.

We trust Jaco will have a successful term as CEO and that he can count on your continued support.

With gratitude and anticipation,
The Board of David & Jonathan

A word from the new CEO.
On behalf of my family and me, I am humbled and grateful to accept the role of CEO of the David & Jonathan Foundation. We consider it a privilege to serve King Jesus/Yeshua in a tangible and impactful way, and to join you in seeking the peace and flourishing of Jerusalem.
The Scriptures call us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to stand with God’s chosen people. Our commitment to this work is not about religion or power, but about seeking first the Kingdom of God and participating in His redemptive purposes. We believe God’s promises are “yes and amen,” and that Biblical prophecy points to reconciliation and final redemption beginning with Israel.
Thanks to your faithful partnership over the last 30 years, this foundation has helped establish congregations and meaningful outreaches across Israel. That fruit is a testimony to God’s faithfulness — and a reminder that the mission continues. I am excited to work alongside you and local leaders to deepen our relationships, expand lasting outreach, and steward resources wisely for eternal impact.
I thank every donor, volunteer, and prayer partner who has faithfully invested in this cause. Together, in prayerful dependence and humble obedience, we stand as an end-time army witnessing from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. I look forward to serving with you and to what God will do through our partnership.
Shabbat Shalom,
Jaco, Marcelle and Elan Carstens

Dear David and Jonathan Foundation friends, we are deeply saddened by the passing away of Kalla Schroeder, leader of the Damascus Road worship band, on Ascension Day.

Kalla has been associated with D&J since the early 2000’s. He was a pioneer in playing Messianic music at meetings where God’s plans and purposes concerning Israel were discussed. We drew on his musical and singing skills to lead the band at many Feast of Tabernacles Celebrations, Shabbat meetings, various congregations, on the outdoor stage at Salem Biblical Gardens, and many other Israel-oriented speaking engagements.

Annalee met him at Logos, where he was a member of the church worship team. When she started organising Feast Celebrations in 2007, Kalla’s band was D&J’s first choice to lead the worship at our meetings. His music and singing blended extremely well with Gerrida Dickason, our Music Director, for these large worship events. I am sure that Gerrida and fellow band members, Johan, Fanie and Anton will miss his presence.

Kalla developed another great talent. When Johan Greeff, the late ICEJ SA Chairman and champion shofar player in the Cape, burst his eardrum blowing the shofar, we needed someone to take his place. Annalee learned that Kalla was an accomplished trumpet player and asked Johan to teach Kalla to play the shofar. Kalla was an instant success with this difficult instrument. I dare say the best in the Western Cape. He was, therefore, in great demand whenever the shofar was required.

Kalla loved worship music and his Damascus Road band became sought after by many other Israel-oriented organisations and churches. He is to be commended for being open to serving and playing for whoever approached them – to him it was all about paying tribute to the Saviour whom he served with all his heart.

Totsiens Kalla. Dankie vir al die mooi herrinninge.

Jack, Annalee, D&J Raadslede en almal vir wie Kalla so dierbaar was.

Israel does it again; just like they turned the Syrian radar around on Mt Hermon, to view whole swathes of Syria – so the Iranian regime’s cameras have been turned against it too. The Iranian regime built a vast network of surveillance cameras to control dissent – tens of thousands of CCTV cameras in Teheran alone. On Feb 28 2026, Israel hacked into the system and turned it into a tool to target the oppressors.

Even surveillance systems set up by governments on networks sealed off from the internet are vulnerable: It takes just one insider turncoat to compromise such systems.

Dear Friends, Farewell and Appreciation. Jaco le Grange.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jaco le Grange and his family for their years of service and dedication to our organisation. From their first visits to D&J Shabbat meetings, it was clear that Jaco, Beulah, Lilly, Yeshrun, and Hannalee were an answer to prayer.
As CEO of the Foundation, Jaco inspired us with his passion for blessing Messianic congregations in Israel. His children brought joy through puppet shows, and Jaco himself enriched many lives by guiding tours at Salem Biblical Garden, making Scripture come alive with his teaching.
Though financial realities led him to new opportunities, his impact here remains immeasurable. We wish Jaco and his family every blessing for the future. May the Lord continue to guide and keep them.
With gratitude,
Jack and the D&J Board
