What a joyful Homecoming BBQ & Ministry Fair! More than 100 guests gathered for wonderful food, fellowship, and connection. Special thanks to the Davidsons and Pattersons for preparing the BBQ and all the fixings, and to everyone who brought delicious dishes, volunteered, and helped make the day such a success!

Get ready to spark hope! From September 1-30, we're rallying together to collect individually packaged snack items for Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear, a beacon of light for families facing homelessness and housing instability. These snacks will be transformed into nourishing packs, spreading joy and support to children and families in need! 🌟

These snacks will be assembled at Family Promise into snack packs and distributed to children and families in need.

Last week, St. Andrew’s administrator and chorister Judith Nichols offered a beautiful example of carrying our gifts beyond the walls of our parish. At the Diocesan Music Conference at Trinity Center, Judith led a workshop titled Happiness Is Singing in the Choir: A Journey Through Science, Scripture, and Song, drawing together her lifelong love of choral music, graduate research in gerontology, Benedictine spirituality, and appreciation for the Psalms.

As summer winds down, we’re coming back together to reconnect with friends, share a delicious meal, and celebrate the beginning of our 2026–2027 program year.

🍽️ We’ll provide: BBQ, hushpuppies, baked beans, and beverages.

🥗 You bring: A salad, side dish, or dessert to share in a disposable pan that does not require heating.

What an incredible response to this year’s School Supply Drive for Sunset Park Elementary School!

Because of your generosity, St. Andrew’s was able to provide an amazing collection of supplies for students and teachers, including:

✏️ 4,000 sharpened #2 pencils
🖍️ 500 boxes of Crayola crayons
✂️ 474 pairs of scissors
🎧 520 headphones
🖊️ More than 1,500 dry erase markers
🧴 1,000 Elmer’s glue sticks
📚 Hundreds of rulers, sharpeners, reusable sleeves, Post-it Notes, composition books, and more
☕ 480 K-Cups and coffee creamer for the hardworking faculty and staff
🍎 Plus snacks, copy paper, markers, and plenty of shark-themed goodies!

And the generosity didn’t stop there.

Because so much was given, we were able to ask the principal, “What else do you need?” Her answer was tissues and antibacterial wipes for January. Thanks to your support, we will be able to meet that need, too.

This is what happens when a parish comes together in generosity and love. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this ministry possible. Together, we are helping our neighbors at Sunset Park begin the school year knowing that their community is behind them.

What a wonderful way to put our faith into action. 💙

Our staff gathered on Monday to look toward the fall, but our conversation became about much more than calendars and plans.

We found ourselves talking about people.

About the many volunteers who quietly give their time and gifts. About ministries that bring people together, care for our neighbors, deepen our faith, and remind us that the Church is not something we simply attend. It is something we become together.

As we prepare for the year ahead, we are grateful for all that God is already doing among us and hopeful about what is still unfolding.

Please keep our staff, volunteers, and ministries in your prayers as we listen, prepare, and make room for what comes next.

What a wonderfully messy morning at St. Andrew’s Summer Messtival! More than 38 children, youth, and adults joined us for slime-making, sensory play, creativity, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to get our hands dirty.

A huge thank you to everyone who planned, prepared, volunteered, donated supplies, helped with activities, welcomed families, and cleaned up the mess afterward. Events like this happen because people generously share their time and talents, and we are so grateful for everyone who helped make the morning such a success.

Most of all, we loved seeing young people and families having fun, making new connections, and simply enjoying being together.

Messy hands. Full hearts. A beautiful morning together.

John the Baptist was known for a lot of things: camel hair, grasshoppers, bold preaching, and calling people to repentance.

But one of the most powerful images of John is much simpler: he points.

He points people toward Jesus.
