오늘 무슬림 청년을 만나 하나님의 구원에 대해 대화를 나누었습니다. 그 청년도 다른 무슬림 청년들이 믿는 것과 크게 다름이 없었습니다. 그래서 저는 다음과 같이 요점을 말해 주었습니다.

Today I met a Muslim young adult and talked about God's salvation. The young man was not much different from other Muslims in his belief. So I pointed out the following points.

이슬람의 구원의 가르침이 우리 기독교의 구원의 가르침과 다른 것은 무슬림들의 신이 우리 크리스쳔의 하나님과 엄연히 다르기 때문입니다. 우리는 예수님이 하나님의 아들이고, 우리를 구원하시기 위해 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하신 것을 믿습니다.

The teaching of the salvation of Islam is different from the teaching of the salvation of our Christianity, because Muslims’ god is quite different from our Christians’ God. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross and was resurrected to save us.

그러나 무슬림들은 예수님과는 관계없이 그들이 알라를 믿고 코란에 있는 모하메드의 가르침을 따르면 구원을 받을 수 있다고 말합니다. 무슬림은 그처럼 우리 크리스쳔과 전혀 다르게 믿습니다. 그래서 무슬림의 알라는 우리 크리스쳔의 하나님이 결코 될 수가 없습니다.

But Muslims say that regardless of Jesus, they can be saved by believing in Allah and following Mohammad’s teachings in Koran. Like that, Muslims believe completely differently from what we Christians believe. So the Muslim’s Allah can never become our Christians’ God.

우리가 올바르게 믿기 위해서는 먼저 하나님이 하나님의 본성을 토대로 우리를 구원하신다는 사실을 알아야합니다.

In order for us to believe correctly, we must know first the fact that God saves us based on the nature of God.

하나님은 공의로우십니다. 그것은 우리가 죄를 지을 때 하나님께서 우리를 심판하시고 처벌하실 것임을 의미합니다. 따라서, 모두가 지옥에 가야합니다. 누구도 예외가 없습니다. 모두가 죄를 지었기 때문입니다. 그러면 그것으로 모두가 끝이 납니까? 아닙니다.

God is just. It means that God will judge and punish us when we sin. No exception. Everyone should go to hell because everybody has sinned. So, will everybody be ended by that? No.

해결책이 있습니다. 하나님은 우리를 사랑하시고 관대합니다. 그러나 그것은 하나님이 죄인들을 벌하지 않는다는 것을 의미하지 않습니다. 그것은 하나님께서 우리 죄인들을 지옥에서 구하고 싶어 하신다는 것을 의미합니다.

There is a solution. God is loving us and generous. But It does not mean that God does not punish sinners. It means that God wants to save us sinners from hell.

어떻게 입니까? 어떻게 하나님께서 죄인들을 벌하시는 동시에 죄인들을 구원하실 수 있습니까? 하나님은 희생을 사용하십니다. 그 희생이 우리의 죄값을 치룰 수 있기 때문에 우리가 그 희생을 믿는다면 우리는 구원받습니다.

How? How can God punish sinners and save them at the same time? God uses a sacrifice. If we believe in that sacrifice, we will be saved because the sacrifice can pay for our sins.

그러면 그 희생은 누구입니까? 예수님입니다. 예수님은 우리의 희생입니다. 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으시고 우리의 죄값을 지불하셨습니다. 그래서 우리가 예수님을 구세주로 영접할 때 우리가 구원을 받습니다.

Who is the sacrifice? He is Jesus. Jesus is our sacrifice. Jesus died on a cross and paid for our sins so that we are saved when we receive him as our savior.

하나님이 우리를 얼마나 사랑하시는지를 예수님을 통해 확실히 보여 주셨습니다. 그래서 우리는 예수님을 구세주로 믿고 서로 사랑하라는 예수님의 계명을 따릅니다.

God showed us how much he loved us clearly through Jesus. So, we believe in Jesus as our savior and obey his commandment to love one another.

‭‭고린도후서‬ ‭5:17-19‬ ‭

“그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새것이 되었도다 모든 것이 하나님께로 났나니 저가 그리스도로 말미암아 우리를 자기와 화목하게 하시고 또 우리에게 화목하게 하는 직책을 주셨으니 이는 하나님께서 그리스도 안에 계시사 세상을 자기와 화목하게 하시며 저희의 죄를 저희에게 돌리지 아니하시고 화목하게 하는 말씀을 우리에게 부탁하셨느니라”

II Corinthians‬ ‭5:17-19‬ ‭

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”

샬롬, 500주년 종교개혁주일에:

“믿기만 한다고 구원받는 것이 아닙니다. 행함이 있어야 구원받습니다” 라고 주장하는 사람들이 있습니다. 그러한 주장은 매우 위험한 말이라 생각합니다. 왜냐하면 그 말은 구원을 받기 위해 행위에 신경쓰도록 만드는 반면에, 유일한 구원의 수단인 믿음을 소홀히 여기도록 만들 수 있기 때문입니다.

그런데, 우리가 알다시피 믿음 없는 행함은 구원과 전혀 관계가 없습니다. 따라서 우리는 우선적으로 믿음에 중점을 두지 않으면 안됩니다. 야고보사도가 “행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 믿음”(약 2:17,26)이라고 말한 것은, 오직 믿음으로만 구원받는 것을 인정하지 않아서가 아니라, 혹시나, 믿음이 있다고 말하면서도 행함을 소홀히 여기는 사람이 있을까봐 경계하기 위함입니다.

하나님의 진리는, 우리가 올바른 믿음을 가지면 그 믿음을 실습함으로써 행위가 반드시 수반되게 되어 있습니다. 왜냐하면 그 믿음으로 예수님 안에 거하며 행동하기 때문입니다.

하나님이 우리에게 이미 주신 예수님의 믿음을 날마다 실습하셔서(예배와 말씀과 기도와 섬김과 사랑과 전도 등... 주님이 명령하신 것들을 순종함으로써) 성령의 열매를 맺기를 간절히 소원합니다.

“살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말이 영이요 생명이라”

Shalom, on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation:

Some people may say, "We cannot be saved by just believing. Without works, we cannot be saved." I think such a claim is very dangerous. For it can make people neglect the faith, the only means of salvation, while making them pay attention to works alone without faith to be saved. But, as we know, works without faith have nothing to do with salvation. Thus, we must focus on faith first.

Apostle James said that "faith without works is a dead faith" (James 2:17,26). Why does he say that? It is not because he doesn’t know that we are saved by faith alone, but because he wants to give a warning for us not to ignore works.

The truth of God is: We are saved by faith alone. But there is no faith without works. Faith and works work together.

We need to practise our faith in Jesus that God has already given to us (by obeying his commandments: through worshiping, reading the God’s words, prayer, service, love, and evangelism ...), and we will bring forth the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
