Aurora Sky Castner was born inside a prison in Texas.

Her mother was incarcerated that day and never took care of her. It was her father who got her out of there as a newborn and raised her alone, without help, without a support network. Everything began to change in elementary school, when Aurora joined a mentoring program and met Mona Hamby, a woman who became a mother figure to her. Hamby discovered a girl who read nonstop, admired Rosa Parks, and whom she simply described as brilliant.

She opened doors for Aurora that she had never crossed before, such as summer camp, and that closeness made all the difference. She graduated third in her class at Conroe High School, won an anti-drug speech contest, and received a $2,000 scholarship. In 2022, she visited Harvard with her mentor and fell in love with the place.

Her admissions essay began with a sentence that summed it all up: """"I was born in jail."""" Today, she studies Law there on a full scholarship.

🇺🇸 UNITED STATES — When Daniel Romano saw an elderly woman searching through the trash outside his Bronx pizzeria, he could have simply looked away.

Instead, he walked over.

She had pulled a half-eaten pizza from the garbage.

Romano threw the discarded food away and handed her a fresh slice of pizza.

When she became emotional, he told her:

“Don’t cry. Eat.” ❤️

That moment stayed with him.

Soon afterward, Romano put a handwritten message in the window of D’Romano’s Pizza offering free pizza to people who were hungry.

His message was simple: If you're hungry, ask him for a slice.

And Romano says this isn't about publicity.

After 45 years in the pizza business, he says helping people in need has always been part of who he is. He has even recalled buying food for hungry customers out of his own pocket when others wouldn't give away leftovers.

The sign eventually attracted attention online and brought new customers into the restaurant.

But Romano says the attention was never the reason.

His philosophy is simple:

If food is going to be thrown away anyway, why not feed someone who is hungry?

In a world where kindness can sometimes seem rare, one Bronx pizza shop is sending a powerful message:

No one should have to search through a garbage can just to find something to eat. 🍕❤️

Sometimes, a single slice of pizza can mean much more than a meal.
