Hear from our previous summer cycle leader, Luthi: âI had the honor of traveling to South Africa this year with 10 other students and our chaperone. We studied the history and lasting effects of apartheid, explored politics and education in South Africa, spent time at Kliptown Youth, and much more. The immersion was incredibly meaningful, but our project started long before we got on that (incredibly long) flight. Through our formations, commissioning, retreat, and time spent getting to know one another, we built a strong sense of community before we even left. From so many laughs and memories to moments of deep reflection, this experience impacted me in so many ways. I left South Africa with lifelong memories, friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the people who made this experience so special. More importantly, I left changed, carrying the lessons I learned with me and a renewed commitment to live them out back home. I am grateful for my team, for the lessons we learned, and for an experience that I know will stay with me for a long time.â
