Did you know Salem’s history is officially preserved in a Presidential Library? 🏛️🇺🇸

As we celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary this year, we’re looking back at the moments where our story intersected with the nation’s. In 1951, President Harry S. Truman sent this personal letter to the congregants of on our 110th anniversary.

The most exciting part? When our archivist reached out to the Truman Presidential Library, they confirmed that Salem is already part of their official records!

Lent isn’t about spiritual perfection—it’s about connection. ✨

As we begin these 40 days, Pastor Terry is inviting us to slow down and re-center our lives on Christ through three simple prayer practices:

1️⃣ The Breath Prayer: Inhale a phrase of invitation ("Come, Lord Jesus"), exhale a petition ("Have mercy on me").
2️⃣ The Scripture Prayer: Carry a single verse or word with you all day. Let it linger. 📖
3️⃣ The Prayer of Examen: At the end of the day, ask: Where did I notice God? Where did I miss an opportunity to love?

No performance. No "right way." Just you and Jesus, walking together toward Easter. 🕊️

Which of these practices are you leaning into this week? Let us know in the comments! 👇

What is the significance of Ash Wednesday? Understand the biblical roots of repentance, the meaning of the ash cross, and how the season of Lent invites us to trade perfection for God's grace. Read why this ancient tradition remains vital for Christians today.

Have you ever seen people walking around with ash on their foreheads and wondered what it’s all about? Today marks the start of Lent—a 40-day journey of reflection leading up to Easter.

The ashes aren’t a badge of perfection or a mark of shame. In fact, they’re a mark of honesty. They remind us of two simple truths:

1. Life is fragile and finite.

2. We are deeply loved and invited into God’s grace exactly as we are.

The Lenten season is a gift, a chance for a fresh start. It’s a time to breathe, return to what matters, and let God "breathe fresh life" into you.
