Pastor Kristian A. Smith just reframed the entire "homosexuality is a sin" argument from the inside — and it's resonating. His logic: Jesus said the greatest commandment is love. The first rule of love is "do no harm." So if sin is anything that causes harm, and q***r and trans people are simply living their lives without harming anyone — then who exactly is sinning here?

"If they're just trying to live their lives without harming anyone, and you, as a Christian, are condemning them and pushing them down, then you are the one causing harm. So you are the one living in sin."

He says he barely even uses the word "sin" anymore. He talks about harm. And the distinction is doing a lot of work.

🙏🏾 Jesus, thank You for Your never-ending, unfailing, and unconditional love. All goodness comes from You, and we pray for Your continued blessings.

God, please protect, hold, and comfort our LGBTQIA+ siblings. Though Pride Month is a celebration of Your beautifully and wonderfully made children, it can also be a reminder of others’ hatred, rejection, and oppressive actions and behaviors.

Help us remember our identities through You. We are a reflection of You, a Love that is LOUDER and a Light that is BRIGHTER. Keep our hearts soft and abundantly full of love.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
