Greetings!
We are delighted to share the news that our dear Sophia Sparkles has been elevated to the 2nd degree in the Sylvan Tradition.

This is a grand and rare achievement in our tradition that requires many years on the Sylvan path of Witchcraft.

Sol, I, and several other tradition members of appropriate degrees facilitated the initiation. Sophia's craft name remains Sophia Sparkles.

As some of you know, attainment of a 2nd degree in the Sylvan Tradition requires rigorous demonstrations of knowledge and ability. The 2nd-degree distinction is available only after the successful creation and facilitation of specific rituals, Sabbats, Deity-focused rituals, and the completion of a culminating project that demonstrates the candidate's magical ability. All this is demonstrated while doing well in managing one's energy.

The Spectrum Grove periodically offers a class in the Sylvan Tradition and Witchcraft in general. The class is an intense immersion in our tradition with an emphasis on magical work.

Serious beginners are encouraged, especially those interested in finding a coven with whom to practice.

Interviews will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at a location in the Central District of Seattle.

Founded in 1998, Concentric Circles is an annual, all-day event where OLOTEAS invites other regional Pagan groups to present workshops and rituals.

Remembering Lady Sylvana

Lady Sylvana Silverwitch, Founder of Sylvan Grove, Witch Queen in the Sylvan Tradition.

Attainment of Fifth Degree, 25 December 2012

Like the Goddess, Lady Sylvana is many things to many people: High Priestess, Witch Queen, teacher, author, lover, artist, sexy vamp, trusted friend, and gentle confidante.

Lady Sylvana touched hundreds of lives in a variety of social circles. She was a person that anyone could go to, without shame or judgment, for wisdom, help, and compassion. She will be sorely missed. And yet we are joyful that she is at peace and that she achieved so much in her life.

Her accomplishments are many and varied, including among other things, being one of the founders and a publisher of the Puget Sound pagan newspaper, Widdershins.

She is the coven mother to the Sylvan Grove coven, from which branched the sister covens of Green Star Grove, Silver Tree Grove, Woodsong Grove, and Spectrum Grove.
