WEEK SIX: The Sixth Sunday of Lent, April 2, 2023 (Palm Sunday – Holy Week)

SCRIPTURAL FOCUS: Matthew 21:1-11 From Hosanna to Crucify Him

This week of very high emotions to very low emotions, from “Hosanna in the highest heaven” to “crucify him,” we call Jesus’ passion. He will sacrifice self, suffer, and die for our sake. He will give everything he has that God’s will, will be done. How has Jesus’ passion impacted your life, spiritually and practically?

UBE FOCUS: How has Jesus’ passion impacted UBE’s work and the faith and spirituality of its members?

UBE RESPONSE: UBE creates connection and family for black clergy and laity in The Episcopal Church where connection and family might not otherwise exist. Through weekly prayer meetings and monthly bible study, UBE members grow deeper in biblical knowledge and understanding and unite for prayer in small group settings that invite truth telling and vulnerability. We enrich members spiritual lives by introducing them to the lives of black saints and make sure that all our gatherings include prayer, often a special prayer authored by the late Rev. Dr. Harold Lewis, a black Episcopal theologian of significance. Out of scriptural and theological foundations, UBE demonstrates and teaches our members how to speak truth to power and move the Church to a more complete manifestation of God’s Beloved Community,

Are you willing to donate $25 or more this week to see these works of UBE continue?
