Beautiful service, and a very special Thank you to our guest speaker, Reverend Dr. Thomas Tobin Sr. For this great message from God found in
2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV) “Our Eyes are on you”.

“Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”

This verse is part of King Jehoshaphat’s prayer when Judah was surrounded by enemies and faced what seemed like an impossible situation.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

God spoke these words to King Solomon after the dedication of the temple. He was explaining how His people should respond when they have turned away from Him and are experiencing the consequences of sin.

“Do not be afraid or discouraged… the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

“Our eyes are on you.” Instead of focusing on fear, King Jehoshaphat chose to look to God for guidance and deliverance.

Today, I honor the life of Reverend Rick Lockhart, my uncle, my brother in ministry, and my friend. To me, he was simply Uncle Ricky.

This loss is deeply personal because our journey in ministry was intertwined from the beginning. We started in ministry together. We served as deacons together. We were ordained as ministers together. Through the years, we shared a calling, a commitment to God’s work, and a passion for serving His people.

The truth is, neither one of us was perfect. We made mistakes, faced struggles, and had our share of shortcomings. But God saw something in us that we couldn’t always see in ourselves. By His grace, He called us, shaped us, and allowed us to be vessels for His work. What a blessing it has been to walk that journey alongside Uncle Ricky.

I had the privilege of watching him live out the faith he preached. He was a man of compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for God and His people. His life touched countless hearts, not only through his words but through the example he set every day.

As I reflect on our years of serving together, I am grateful for every lesson, every prayer, every laugh, and every opportunity we had to labor together in God’s vineyard. Those memories will stay with me forever.

While my heart is heavy today, I find comfort in knowing that Uncle Ricky has finished his race and entered into the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully. He fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith.

Rest well, Uncle Ricky. Thank you for serving alongside me, believing alongside me, and answering God’s call alongside me. Until we meet again.
