MCC San Francisco mourns the loss of a powerful voice in the fight for women's equality. Gloria Steinem's words challenged injustice, opened doors, and argued early on that feminists and the LGBTQ+ community shared the same opponents and stated that women's rights and transgender rights are part of the same fight against rigid gender roles.

Her legacy lives on in every woman who speaks up, every girl who dreams without limits, and every person who refuses to accept inequality as inevitable.

We grieve her passing, but we also carry her work forward. May we honor Gloria Steinem not only by remembering what she changed, but by continuing the fight for the equality she believed was possible.

Rest in power, Gloria. Your voice changed the world—and the movement continues. May your memories be a blessing.

MCC San Francisco stands with our LGBTQ+ siblings in Tucson in their grief over the senseless loss of life. Hate has no place in our world.

Our community continues to work towards a world filled with unconditional love for all people.

G3 shares in the grief surrounding the tragic violence and senseless loss of life that occurred last night at The Venture N.

In the coming days we will surely learn more about what has happened, but in response a community vigil honoring the victims is being held on Wednesday evening starting at 6:30PM at Catalina Park, located on 4th Av at 1st Street.

We send our condolences to the families and loved ones of those lost and call for a more loving, more peaceful and more tolerant world.

As we continue celebrating Transgender History Month this August, Rev. Daniel is holding close the bold legacy of sacred trailblazers who refused to let an oppressive world define their worth.

This Sunday, Aug. 30, Rev. Daniel will lead us through Matthew 16:21–28 alongside Joy Ladin’s poignant poem "Survival Guide." Together, we will lift up the fierce activism of trans elder Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, challenging the theological lie of self-erasure and reclaiming what it truly means to live into our authentic, God-given dignity.

In his sermon, "The Holy Paradox of 'Losing' Your Life," Rev. Daniel will reframe Jesus’ call to discipleship through the lens of q***r liberation. We will explore how dismantling the artificial masks society forces us to wear—and shedding the false safety of the closet—is the only path to finding our true souls.

To ground our worship, we will also honor Dolly Parton's long-standing LGBTQ+ activism by using her uplifting anthem "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" as our music for reflection. Join Rev. Daniel as we leave the deadbolts behind, step out of hiding, and celebrate the magnificent freedom of walking together in divine light!

Join us in person or via Zoom. MCC San Francisco is located at Trinity-St. Peter's Episcopal Church in St. Mary's Chapel at 1620 Gough St. (at Bush) San Francisco, CA 94109. Zoom Meeting ID: 203 804 411 | Password: 561981
