🌟 Support Our Kids at Renown Children's Hospital 🌟

Now through March 14, you can join the Dreams Foundation, Inc and local philanthropist Sarah E. Carmona Zink in donating comfort items for children ranging from preemies to 18 years old at Renown Children's Hospital, northern Nevada’s only member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. By donating, you’ll help provide care and comfort to kids in need, right here in our community.

This is Gabe and he is a hero of a kid. I recently met his sweet mom over social media. I’m learning about their story, and this 9 year old boy is an amazing kid. He has been dealing with GI issues; however, I have seen his light, joy, and kindness keep shining through. He has suffered from various GI issues and over the last 6 months has had 4 stays at Renown totaling 66 days, 4 surgeries and 7 procedures. He still has a long road ahead of him, but shows his family on a daily basis how strong he is. He’ll be back at Renown Children’s Hospital in a few months for a complete colectomy (removal of his colon).

While battling health obstacles, in October 2024 Gabe organized a toy drive for the Renown Children’s Hospital. Raising toys, coloring booking, books, and other items to make kid’s stays easier. The Child Life team has really made a positive impact on his stays.

All the nurses adore him and fight over him as their patient. 😍 Him and his family said that comfy pants and t-shirts were important for this age. Gabe was in for 59 days total in the summer (4 different stays) and just had a week long stay in January… he didn’t like walking the halls with gowns on that were typically too small for him! His mother said “Gabe said over one of his stays ‘Renown needs pants for patients.’ 😂 He was happy when I told him about what you do and collect!”

We are so grateful to the dedication of Renown Health Foundation board member Sarah Carmona Zink, the Dreams Foundation, Inc and our generous community for their efforts in yet another successful Comfies for Kids and Really Tiny Babies fundraiser. Because they are such fantastic champions for Renown Children’s Hospital, this year they were able to give our patients $8,600 in healing and comfort products and an $8,000 check!

Sarah said it best: “These donations are imperative to the patients. Comfort plays a crucial role in healing at hospitals by reducing stress, anxiety and promoting overall well-being.”

Bring your pjs, receiving blankets, and monetary donations and help us celebrate our community’s smallest patients. Wear your favorite comfy clothes and enjoy light refreshments, a cupcake, and/or a cocktail! I’m so excited to see everyone. ❤️ Please let me know if you have any questions about the event.

This is also an ask for help! We have had a lower donation turn out than expected so far and we can do better for our baby and children patients. As our community grows, the needs of our only non for profit hospital does too. We still have items on our registry; we will also take gently used items. If money is easier please visit dreamsfoundationinc.com to make a monetary donation. All proceeds will go directly to support Renown Children’s Hospital.

Our furry community members need our help! 🐶🐱Brookfield School is holding a donation drive this week for the Human Society. They are collecting:

Renown Health Foundation extends our heartfelt gratitude to Sarah E. Carmona Zink, the Dreams Foundation, Inc, and our wonderful community for their generous contribution of pajamas and other goodies to Renown Children's Hospital, as part of the annual fundraiser for “Comfies for Kids and Really Really Tiny Babies". Their act of kindness and generosity has made a tangible impact on the lives of our patients, and we cannot thank them enough for their support.

In addition to the generous donation, we would like to acknowledge Sarah for being a true inspiration to all of us. Her unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in supporting Renown Children's Hospital through various fundraisers have made a significant impact on the lives of the children and families we serve.
