Today we remember those who did not come home.

Memorial Day belongs to the American service members who laid down their lives in our country's defense. To the families who carry the weight of that loss every day, not just today. To the children who grew up with a folded flag instead of a parent.

We pause. We remember. We give thanks for the freedom their sacrifice secured and for the God who walks with the grieving.

Big news for our community! 🎉

The Salvation Army is honored to share that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Company to help provide birth certificates for individuals in our community.
Access to a birth certificate can open the door to employment, housing, education, healthcare, and so many other important opportunities. We are grateful for this support and excited to continue serving our neighbors in meaningful ways. ❤️

Thank you to Coca-Cola for investing in our community and helping us make a difference, one life at a time.

The Portsmouth Salvation Army mourns the loss of our dear friend and former board member, Jeff Smith.

Jeff lived a life rooted in kindness, compassion, and a deep love for the people of Scioto County. He served others with humility and consistency, never seeking recognition—just faithfully showing up wherever there was a need.

Pictured here during a 2022 meal service, Jeff is doing what he did so often—standing alongside others and serving his community with care and compassion.

We were blessed by his leadership, his generosity, and his steady belief in the work of caring for others. Whether he was volunteering with our feeding program or supporting our mission behind the scenes, Jeff led with a servant’s heart.

While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing his legacy of love and service will continue to ripple through this community for years to come.

Please join us in lifting up Jeff’s family and loved ones in prayer during this difficult time.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Rest in peace, Jeff. You will be deeply missed.
