Congratulations to our Minster Joe Greene as he has been named Head Basketball Coach at Portsmouth High School. The alumni of this great school are excited for his new journey. Congratulations Coach Greene and good luck on the upcoming season. Once a Trojan always a Trojan!!!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 161st Church Anniversary. Special thanks to Elder Mike Maughmer and his church from Original Glorious Church in Chillicothe for coming to help us celebrate. We also want to thank the Anniversary Committee for all of their hard work. Felicia Parker, Debbie Lawson, Lynsi Eason, and Carla Womack did an awesome job with the decorations and organizing the dinner, servers, and clean up crew. We appreciate all those who helped make this day special.

Pleasant Green has reached far beyond the neighborhood. It is one of the oldest churches in Portsmouth and is recognized on our local flood wall murals. Pleasant Green is also a part of the Appalachian Freedom Heritage Tour, a regional Underground Railroad network. A plague stands in the front yard of the church recognizing this history. So much history stands on the corner of 15th and Waller Streets.
