This Week's Talk: Two Assemblies

The two assemblies (in Acts and Ezra) have some striking similarities (all together wind/rain, and many nations represented in the crowd), and yet some key differences too.

In Ezra purity is the concern, in Acts it is evangelism. Acts is a helpful lens through which to read Ezra and understand how God’s faithful plan is to extend to the whole world.

We celebrate Pentecost this weekend, which marks the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus after his Ascension, held on the seventh Sunday after Easter. In the Anglican tradition, we will both baptize and reaffirm baptismal vows during the 11am service.
