Our St. Andrew's Dinner was a great success! Over 600 men were recommended for the Called By Name Initiative and 110 were able to attend the St. Andrew's Dinner on March 1st where they were able to meet and talk with Bishop Mark Eckman and listen to several talks.

The Vocations office will continue to host events as part of the Called By Name Initiative throughout the year. Our next upcoming event is the St. Joseph Guild on April 12.

May God assist these men as they discern the Lord's call in their lives!

Called by Name is more than a program...it’s a moment of faith.

In just a few weeks, parishioners across the Diocese of Pittsburgh are invited to pray and name men who show the gifts of a future priest.

You may be the voice God uses to say, “Come, follow me.”

Be on the lookout: Called by Name is coming to parishes across the Diocese of Pittsburgh

This January, the Diocese of Pittsburgh Vocation Office is launching Called by Name, a vocation initiative that invites parishioners to help encourage young men who may be open to God’s call to the priesthood.

🕊 January 17–24
Parishioners are invited to pray and reflect on the men in their parish, school, or family who show faith, leadership, and a heart for service.

📝 January 24–25 (at Mass)
Called By Name cards will be available in the pews at each parish. Parishioners may write the name of a young man they believe God may be calling and return the card during Mass.

📬 What happens next?
Each man recommended will receive a personal letter of encouragement from Bishop Eckman and an invitation to the Saint Andrew Dinner on March 1, an opportunity to learn more about priestly discernment.

This program isn’t about pressure, it’s about prayer, encouragement, and helping young men recognize that the Church sees their gifts.

Watch for more information in your parish bulletin and at Mass in the coming weeks!

June may have just ended, but our hearts are still full of joy from the incredible gift of celebrating two beautiful ordinations — one to the transitional diaconate and one to the priesthood. 🙏

Each moment was a powerful witness to God's faithfulness and the generous "yes" of those answering His call.

Let us continue to pray for the men who were ordained this past month — may God strengthen and guide them in their ministry ahead!
