Today Christians commemorate Palm Sunday, reflecting on Jesus making a triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Of course the events that followed weren’t exactly what most people expected.

A colleague in Young Life leadership once told me that determining ‘what to make of Christ’s identity’ is one of the most important decisions a person will make. I agree. The events of Passion Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter, are profound illustrations of the depth of God’s love.

My Sunday morning started by reading sports news including several college football coaches complaining about their teams being disrespected. And then at worship, our pastor’s message was about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. Imagine that, the Son of God lowering himself to be a servant!

One of the things I appreciate about student ministry is the way it can uplift kids who are struggling. Even those who thrive may be under a lot of pressure. Young Life leaders strive to impart friendship & respect as depicted in the Gospel.

Young Life leaders believe life is better when you know God…and that knowing God makes one better at life! They are a blessing to our community.

These students from FCHS and Mt. Lebanon enjoyed the mountaintop experience that is Young Life Camp. It’s not cheap to go to camp, but fundraising and scholarships make it manageable.

Most Young Life events during the school year are free. I’m grateful for how local leaders like Wyatt Royse and our college volunteers are investing their lives into the lives of young people.

Today’s worship message examined the reign of King Asa in Judea. He started as a faithful & successful king. In his 50s, he got tired and outsourced his military rule. His nation declined and he became bitter.

The lesson: If we RECLINE in our relationship with God, we DECLINE in our spiritual vitality.

All of Life is ‘Catch & Release’…that’s a quote from the message in yesterday’s worship service. Kind of gives perspective to our possessions, huh?

This catfish looks like the one I caught with my dad when I was six year’s old. That personal experience as father & son surely trumped my attempt to take that fish home as my pet!

These things are on my mind after gathering with our local leadership committee last week. I’m grateful for staff, volunteers, and adults who are investing in the lives of local students.

Merry Christmas! We are so excited to be doing our End-of-The-Year Matching Campaign. So far we have raised 43% of our goal, $13,100 out of $30,000.
