What kind of relationship does God desire to have with us?

In Sunday’s sermon on the story of the Prodigal Son, "The Father's Love," Luke 15:11–31, Jenn Stampfel reminded us that this familiar parable is about more than a son who wanders away and comes home. It reveals the heart of God — a God who runs toward us with mercy, welcomes us with joy, and desires a relationship rooted in grace, love, and belonging.

This morning at Southminster, the Rev. Dr. Cathie Smith reminded us that when God’s Spirit takes root in us, others encounter Christ’s love through us — in our patience, kindness, gentleness, peace, and care. The fruit of the Spirit is not only something God grows within us; it is also the way Christ’s heart reaches out to the world.

You are invited to watch this clip from this morning’s sermon, “Fruit of the Spirit,” based on Galatians 5:22–25.

What a joyful final day of Vacation Bible School at Southminster! 💙
This week, our kids learned about who Jesus is and how His light guides us. We celebrated with a picnic and a Touch-A-Truck event to wrap up Vacation Bible School (VBS). Our campers put their faith into action by collecting cereal boxes for those in need. They created a domino chain that spelled out "VBS" (watch the video!) and then packed the boxes for distribution!

We are so grateful for every child, family, leader, helper, and volunteer who helped make this week such a wonderful celebration of faith, friendship, and fun. Thank you for helping shine the light of Christ at Southminster. Enjoy these final VBS highlights!

We had such a fun-filled fourth day at Vacation Bible School at Southminster! 💙

The day was filled with stories, crafts, music, and games as our kids learned about who Jesus is. Today’s question was, “Was Jesus just someone who lived a long time ago?” The joyful answer is no—Jesus is alive and still calls us to trust and follow Him. A huge thank you to our incredible team of leaders and helpers! Here are some highlights from Day 4!
