A MINISTRY IS HUNGRY FOR!

Forty hot meals were prepared and delivered to our homeless neighbors on May 31. Under the leadership of our Outreach Committee, we have committed to 9 such meals this year. This is one of our most impactful and meaningful ministries at Good Shepherd. We invite you to join us and experience this ministry at our upcoming June 21 meeting!

Camp Imagine 2026 is looking for old aluminum-framed backpacks! If you have one (or several) gathering dust in a garage, attic, basement, or storage shed, we’d love to give it a second life. We’ll be removing the backpack portion and using only the aluminum frames for creative camp projects, so the condition of the pack itself doesn’t matter! If you’d be willing to donate a backpack, or if you know of a place where we might find more, please let us know.

Every frame helps make Camp Imagine a little more imaginative.

Thank you for your support!

You can drop off your donation at Good Shepherd Norfolk before July 1 or contact [email protected] to arrange pick up.

"Spiritus"

Suddenly… Everything Changed

On the day of Pentecost, God’s Spirit moved in a powerful and unexpected way, bringing courage, hope, and new life to ordinary people.

Watch “Suddenly Spiritus” created by Nick Moon and discover how the same Spirit that moved through the early Church is still at work today, bringing courage, connection, and new life.

Featuring lines from the poem “Suddenly” by RS Thomas.

Come, Holy Spirit.

“Veni Sancte Spiritus”

A rumination on the Holy Spirit.

May 24 is Pentecost Sunday!

We pray for the blessing of the Holy Spirit on this major feast day. Along with Christmas and Easter, Pentecost is traditionally the most important day in the Church year. Sometimes called the “birthday of the Church” because 50 days after Easter Sunday is when the Holy Spirit came with power, gifts, and energy — to enable the disciples to go into the world continuing Jesus’ work of reconciling the world to God.

We ask all guests to wear RED symbolizing the tongues of fire that settled upon those in the Upper Room (Acts 2) and also representing the blood of the martyrs that witnessed to Christ, sometimes to their death.

It’s a great day for kids as well! We will have red balloons filling the Church and various adornments and things to carry in the processions! We will have RED cupcakes!

So, wear your favorite RED outfit, sash, or pocket square!
