I'm deeply saddened to learn of Joel's passing. I'm grateful for the opportunity to get to know him and work with him. We shared being PKs and love of the Church. He will be missed.

The Western North Carolina Conference joins Community Development in grieving the loss of Joel Gilland, Wesley’s President and CEO, who passed on Monday, October 26.

“Joel Gilland was a visionary leader, an essential conversation partner and a close friend,” said Bishop Ken Carter. “I grieve his loss, even as I celebrate the gifts Joel gave to us.”

Under Joel’s leadership, Wesley helped hundreds of churches see their buildings and land as gifts that could sustain ministry and bless their neighbors. We give thanks for his life and faithful service, and we hold his family and the Wesley CDC staff and board in prayer. 🙏

Churchwide Prayer Gathering

October 25 | 9:15–9:45 a.m.

On October 25th, on Consecration Sunday, instead of Sunday school classes, we invite everyone to come together for a special time of prayer in Central Hall from 9:15–9:45 a.m. Join us as we unite our hearts, seek God’s presence, and pray for our church, our community, and one another.

As Jesus reminds us, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 (KJV)

Everyone is welcome—we hope you’ll join us!

Yesterday was Sunday at church. Now, it's Monday. Time to BE the church!

801Praise! reminded us where our trust belongs. Today, we carry that reminder beyond the walls of the Sanctuary and into our homes, workplaces, schools, and community.
