📖 Bible Study — Tonight at 6:30 PM

Tonight is the final week of our Essential series and we will be watching "What is a Christian."

Everyone is welcome — you do not need to have attended every week to join us tonight! This series is designed like a Bible 101 class, meaning no prior experience or knowledge is necessary. Whether you're new to faith or just looking to strengthen your foundation, there is a place for you at this table.

We hope to see you there!

Recap from last week's message:

You cannot pour from an empty cup. But you also cannot pour out what isn't in the cup.

Give in secret — and God fills the cup with generosity. Pray in secret — and God fills the cup with His presence. Fast in secret — and God fills the cup with holy hunger.

These three disciplines are not a performance for an audience. They are a private conversation between you and the Father — where He slowly, faithfully transforms what's inside you.

So when life bumps into you this week — and it will — when your kid is frustrating you, when you are cut off in traffic, when someone says the wrong thing, when the unexpected expense hits...

What spills out?

That's your answer. And that answer tells you exactly what needs to happen in the secret place this week.

Looking Ahead

Now that we know what should be inside the cup — this week we're going to take the next step together. We know the what. But how do we actually stay there? How do we remain connected to the Source of everything that fills us?

This week, we're going to discuss: How do we remain IN CHRIST?

Let's pray.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." — Matthew 6:21

If you feel called to find a church, the Lenten season is a great time. Churches have a lot of visitors during this time, which makes it comfortable to walk in the doors. If you feel a certain way about starting to go to church or returning, just think about how happy it makes God! He isn't as concerned with our comfort as He is concerned with being in relationship with us and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a Gospel-preaching church, we'd love to have you join us at 9:35, but you don't have to come to McKendree — just find a church to visit and see all that it can do to draw you closer to God! No church is perfect, and all churches are filled with sinners (we are all sinners), but there is something special about doing this journey with others! It is how God created us!

Preview of Sunday's Service:

SIMPLE: A Lenten Sermon on the Beauty of an Uncluttered Life in Christ

What if the most powerful thing you could do this Lent isn't add more — more discipline, more programs, more religious effort — but strip it all away?

Drawing from Psalm 51, this sermon follows King David into his most broken, honest moment and discovers something unexpected: simplicity isn't emptiness. It's freedom. Just as Jesus faced the wilderness with nothing but the Word of God, we're invited to cut through the noise of our busy lives and find our way back to what's real.

This is a Lenten message for anyone who feels cluttered — spiritually, emotionally, or otherwise — and is longing to hear God's voice again.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." — Psalm 51:10
