This is for the KOZ Men or someone who just wants to know why are these guys so excited about KOZ and what its all about. I wanted to share this message from our National Leader.
Hi Men,
Somewhere out there is a boy who has already decided it’s safer not to feel.
Maybe life has taught him to shut down, maybe he’s learned not to expect anyone to show up or maybe somewhere along the way he started believing that he doesn’t matter. We know where that life leads addiction and destruction. We understand that boy more than We wish I did.
In this week’s KOZ Raw, I share a pretty personal story about a night when I was a young teenager, alone on the side of a highway. I was cold, hungry, angry, and scared. I remember seeing a farmhouse in the distance with a porch light on and wanting nothing more than to knock on that door and ask somebody to care about me, but I didn’t.
Instead, I shut it all down. The fear, the loneliness, the emotions, and at the time, that’s how I survived.
It has taken me years to reclaim some of those places in my heart and understand that it’s okay for a man to feel. In fact, I believe allowing ourselves to feel can be part of how God heals us and draws us closer to Him. And brother, it makes me think about our boys.
There are boys walking into KOZ who are learning to shut those same places down. They need a man who will show up, earn their trust, and help them understand that they have value, that they matter, and most importantly, that Jesus loves them.
Most of the time, somebody has to bring that message to them and that somebody might be you.
Take a few minutes and watch this week’s KOZ Raw. It’s a little heavier than usual, but I hope it reminds you why simply being present in the life of a boy can matter more than you’ll ever know.
Thank you for being part of this mighty group of misfits who refuse to leave these boys behind.
We love you guys. It is an honor to do life, ministry, and rescue alongside you.
Regulators, mount up.
