FAITH AND DEMOCRACY CONTRACT POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Apply Now for Communications Lead and Organizer Roles!

Thanks to generous funding from community partners, the WCC is bringing contractors on board for two key roles supporting our Faith and Democracy efforts. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis and those hired can begin immediately.

Timeframe. Now through mid-January with intense work periods in late October/early November and early January.

Work is online – phone, Zoom meetings, emails and social media with documentation of contacts. Physical location matters less than your personal network and ability to connect.

Earlier this summer, Faith Food Action Network Project Director Eyon Biddle Sr participated in an Open House at the St Mark AME Community Garden in Milwaukee. Among the discussions he had with those organizing the planting were conversations about what was being planted where, and why certain plants were being planted together. This provided a quick glimpse into the world of companion planting.

Prayer for Election Day
Almighty God, you rule all the peoples of the earth.

Inspire the minds of all [people] to whom you have committed the responsibility of government and leadership in the nations of the world.

Give to them the vision of truth and justice, that by their counsel all nations and peoples may work together.

Give to the people of our country zeal for justice and strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will.

Forgive our shortcomings as a nation; purify our hearts to see and love the truth.

We pray all these things through Jesus Christ. Amen.

The African American Council of Churches Madison, WI (AACC) is calling on faith leaders, community advocates and Madison residents to attend a demonstration Saturday in response to the July 22 police-involved shooting death of Corey Ruiz, a 38-year-old Black man and Madison community member.

The event, titled “Standing Together for Justice and Human Dignity,” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Wisconsin State Capitol. It follows the clearing of the Williamson Street memorial encampment earlier this week, which the AACC says has contributed to rising tensions in the city.
