What should Christians think about __________?

We ask all sorts of questions like this all the time, concerning our faith's intersection with culture, politics, entertainment, and more. Everyone has an opinion, and many assert their's as supreme. Can we be clear on any particular issue? Should we even care about any given subject?

In this message, we talk about Halloween, Politics, and everything in between--looking at what the Bible says about temporary, earthly institutions and what purpose they may serve in the Eternal Kingdom of God.

There are many false hopes in our world, some more dangerous than others. Our primary goal is to determine if a Gospel opportunity is present and if so, our imperative is to amplify Jesus. Sometimes this involves freely receiving and other times it requires complete rejection.

Ultimately, God has given Christians the liberty to make choices for ourselves, in line with living out our faith. However, our overarching conviction should be our burden to love one another. In this case, what matters most is not what serves our personal interests, but that which glorifies God and is good for all.

God is glorified through every witness, but His Kingdom is advanced when we are intentional about bypassing the natural divides that exist between us and our neighbors--- such as racial, cultural, and ideological differences.

One of the major themes of the Scriptures is that our God is sovereign over all the world, providentially caring for every person. The Bible doesn't shy away from how inevitably God's providence over one person may seem like negligence with regards to another. That is, what seems to be good for someone may at the same time mean something negative to another person.

This is the tension that we must navigate when studying 2 Kings 5. God appears to be "working all things out" for a Syrian General named Naaman, which comes at the expense of a young Hebrew girl's normalcy.

In this message, we sort through this challenging premise to unearth an even deeper message... Despite having her world upended, this young girl retains her faith in and love for her God--so much so, that when her foreign master has a need that only her God could meet, she promptly shares the Good News with him.

Listen and marvel at the commitment of this young girl, who had every reason to lose heart and forget her purpose, yet she found a way to endure and serve her God. A situation that overflows with injustice and confusion, ultimately humbles and inspires every reader to continue to trust in God's sovereign plan.

In this message, we discuss how the Old Testament Temple model compares to what Jesus set in motion and made possible in our current age. While what we have now is much better, there is still much to learn and translate from Scriptures such as 1 Kings 5.
