Calvary Baptist Church {Growing Disciples that Make Disciples} We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

As a local church located in Lansdale, PA, we are called to carry out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment of God. Our mission drives everything we do, from the ministries we provide to the resources we produce. We hope this calling serves as an invitation to actively participate with us in the work of the Lord rather than remain a passive observer.

What if the momentous events of history were pointing to something far greater than we realize? This week at Calvary Baptist, we dove into Acts 2 and the day of Pentecost, where the Holy Spirit was poured out and Peter stood up to declare that God's promised salvation had begun. His message was bold: the crucified and risen Jesus is both Lord and Messiah, and what the prophet Joel foretold 800 years earlier was happening right then and there.

We are living in the last days of that same story. The final chapter has not yet closed, and God is still calling people to himself. As Peter declared, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21).

The question for each of us is simple: have you believed on Jesus as Lord and Messiah, and are you taking up your post as a witness to what he has done?

What do you do when you are in the in-between? When the mountain peak has passed and you are not sure what comes next?

In Acts 1, the early church faced that exact moment. Jesus had ascended, the Holy Spirit had not yet come, and they were left waiting. What did they do? They prayed together, they interpreted their circumstances through Scripture, and they entrusted their future to God's sovereignty. Three powerful ways to wait well.

As Pastor reminded us, "We need to make more of Jesus in our hearts." When we make much of Jesus, prayer becomes natural, God's Word becomes our lens, and trusting His plan becomes possible even when life takes an unexpected left turn.

Seven people were baptized this past Sunday — five teenagers and two children — each one publicly declaring, “I belong to Jesus.” Their courage and faith reminded us all why the mission matters.

Pastor Pete preached from Acts 1:8, calling us back to the heart of what we are here to do: take the message of Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the world. Not as a program or a duty, but as people who genuinely know Christ and walk with Him daily.

We also took time to celebrate Pastor Brian and his wife, Jean, and their 40+ years of faithful ministry to Calvary Baptist Church and Camp Calvary. Their years of service, investment in people, and commitment to building ministries that glorify God have left a lasting legacy. As they prepare to pass the baton at Camp Calvary, we thank God for all He has accomplished through them and for the many lives they have impacted along the way. What a blessing to celebrate their faithfulness and the work God has done through their lives!

Are you a witness? Not just someone who knows about Jesus, but someone who truly knows Him? The Spirit in you is not decoration — He is power. Yield to Him, stay plugged in, and trust God even with the questions He has not yet answered.

The mission has not changed. The world still needs to hear. Are you ready?

This past Sunday, we had the privilege of honoring Pastor Brian and Jean for over 40 years of faithful ministry at Calvary Baptist Church and Camp Calvary!

For more than four decades, God has worked through their lives to serve His people, invest in generations, and build a ministry that has impacted countless lives for His glory. As they prepare to retire at the end of this year and pass the baton to a new Camp Calvary director, we celebrate not only their years of service but also the lasting legacy of faithfulness they leave behind.

Brian and Jean, thank you for your years of sacrifice, love, and dedication to the Lord and His church. We praise God for all He has accomplished through you, and we rejoice in His faithfulness to you through every season of ministry!

To God be the glory for all He has done - and for all He will continue to do in the generations to come! 🙌

From the next generation taking steps of obedience, to honoring decades of faithful ministry, to being challenged to carry the gospel forward as Witnesses, Sunday reminded us that God is at work in every generation, and the mission continues!
May we be faithful to the calling God has given us as we keep growing disciples who make disciples for His glory!

The book of Acts is not just history - it is an invitation. God took a small group of ordinary believers in Jerusalem and used them to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. The same mission belongs to us today.

Acts 1:8 lays out the roadmap: witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and beyond. The gospel crosses every barrier (ethnic, social, cultural) because God is building a people from every nation. That includes you.

The story is not finished. Acts ends with the task still unfinished, and that is intentional. We are the next chapter. The same risen Christ reigns. The same Spirit empowers. The same mission remains.

Are you ready to be a Great Commission Christian? Test God this week. Pray for an opportunity to share Christ and watch what He does.
