COJCA GENERAL CONFERENCE 2026
Our history is more than the story of an organization—it is an Apostolic message carried from one generation to the next.
During the early Pentecostal revival in North America, Bishop G. T. Haywood became one of the leading voices proclaiming the mighty God in Christ and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. That Apostolic message spread across the nation and became the foundation upon which a generation of pioneers would build.
Among them was Bishop Benjamin F. Hawthorne, who embraced the Acts 2:38 message and later baptized Bishop Mark K. Lawson in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then, in the hills of East Tennessee, that history took another important step.
In 1927, Hawthorne and Lawson joined together in Bradley County, Tennessee, where The Church of Jesus Christ was officially chartered—establishing an organization committed to proclaiming One God, One Name, One Faith, One Baptism, and the Acts 2:38 message of salvation.
From those Tennessee beginnings, the work continued from generation to generation.
Today, nearly a century later, under the leadership of our Presiding Bishop Justin Miles, we remain committed to the faith handed down to us and to carrying this Apostolic message into the next generation.
Rooted in Acts 2.
Established in Tennessee in 1927.
Still Apostolic. Still preaching JESUS.
