This position is a fellowship to learn about and contribute to the domestic and international policy work of the UCC Office of Public Policy and Advocacy in Washington, DC. The position will engage in the coalition work of faith-based advocacy offices, assist with public policy analysis and advocacy, and support the UCC advocacy campaigns and the editorial board for the Justice and Peace Action Network (JPANet), the UCC’s electronic advocacy network. This is a two-year term position.

**PRESERVING BLACK CHURCHES**

Preserving Black Churches: Guidelines and Eligibility
Preserving Black Churches is a project of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Annual grants from Preserving Black Churches are intended to preserve historically Black houses of worship—including those with active and non-active congregations—and advance ongoing preservation activities. Grant funding will strengthen capacity for historic congregations and preservation and community organizations to steward, manage, and better utilize their historic properties.

**ONLINE GA TEDP RECAP/REPORT**

“The General Assembly shall engage in learning, dialogue, formation, discernment, and prayer on matters of social witness and other matters deemed essential to the witness and ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).”
– Special Rules of the General Assembly

The Topic for Education, Discussion, and Prayer (TEDP) for the 2026 Digital Assembly was “Economic Justice.” Disciples are doing ministry across the US and Canada while facing rising utility costs, insurance rates, healthcare costs, and other economic challenges. The communities we love and serve are also facing economic challenges.

Two opportunities for education were offered during General Assembly 2026 and small groups of up to 20 people online or at local gathering sites discussed how Disciples are responding and how God’s surpassing love is moving among our movement for wholeness.

**225th CANE RIDGE REVIVAL ANNIVERSARY**

Last weekend, I traveled to Kentucky to attend the Cane Ridge REVIVAL Commemoration. It was a day of lectures, learning, fellowship, and worship. Thanks to the Disciples Historical Society for coordinating this gathering to help us to remember our Disciples history! Check out the videos when they are shared by DHS...

One of the most significant parts of the day for me was walking the steps up to the balcony to sit where our enslaved Black Disciples foreparents sat. I sat up there by choice. They did not. We might have come a long way in Church and society, but we still have a long way to go and we cannot forget that.

We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast."
