We approach World Refugee Day (June 20) recognizing that the Refugee Resettlement Program in the U.S. is in a preventable crisis. While the Program has been placed on indefinite pause, the Church is still called to respond to the call of Jesus Christ – to welcome the stranger, to love our neighbors.

Listen to the story of a Congolese Disciples pastor, and explore resources for worship and further study, available on the Week of Compassion website - WeekOfCompassion.org/WRD2025

In this moment when risks are high for our siblings when regarded by 'status', it is crucial that people of faith and goodwill acknowledge this reality and act to change it. It is the calling of those privileged, in all times and places, to stand in the gap.

BE PART of the Stand in the Gap Prayer Vigil at General Assembly, in solidarity with our neighbors and in commitment to their safety, security, and peace.

Our friends at the Hope Border Institute have released this vitally important report "Crushed Dreams: The First Impacts of the Trump Administration on Migrants."
https://www.hopeborder.org/_files/ugd/e07ba9_46f3333889a0447bb58aa6730cd9f312.pdf

Through 50+ testimonies of impacted people on the move and focus groups with humanitarian workers, they document:
1. Consequences of the end of CBP One,
2. Denial of asylum access at the US-Mexico border,
3. Challenges that stranded and returned people are facing in Mexico;
4. People returned from the interior of the U.S. to Mexico,
5. People returning to their countries of origin (incipient "return flow", we'll need to continue monitoring), and
6. Impact of funding freeze on shelters in MX.

The report also provides urgent recommendations.

From our friends at Informed Immigrant:
The new DHS Registration requirement has a lot of unknowns, but here are a few things you should know.
→ Determine if you and your family need to register.
→ What is “evidence of registration”?
→ Understand what it may mean if you have any criminal history or if you have worked without employment authorization.
→ Review the information you need to provide and speak to a lawyer if you can.
→ Find an immigration lawyer ASAP
