Alleluia! Christ is risen! We had a beautiful celebration at Trinity on Easter and were blessed to have the Rev. Lou Hays serving with us. The service included special music by our choir and a trumpet soloist. Coffee Hour following the service featured homemade macarons by one of our parishioners (thanks, Noah!) and a delicious cake, among other goodies. We welcomed several first-time visitors and had a great time of fellowship with all in attendance. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

A message from Bishop White as we begin the holy season of Lent.

A message from Bishop White as we begin the holy season of Lent.

Dear People of God:

The first Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord's passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church to prepare for them by a season of penitence and fasting. This season of Lent provided a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It was also a time when those who, because of notorious sins, had been separated from the body of the faithful were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness, and restored to the fellowship of the Church. Thereby, the whole congregation was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gospel of our Savior, and of the need which all Christians continually have to renew their repentance and faith.

I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word.
And, to make a right beginning of repentance, and as a mark of our mortal nature, let us commit ourselves in prayer today to God, our maker and redeemer.

Bishop White

We enjoyed having the Rev. Melanie Slane with us for our Sunday morning worship service recently! Melanie has been a huge help with our search for the next Rector of Trinity, Hamilton and we appreciate the support of both Melanie and the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio.

We are saddened by the passing of Deacon Top and feel blessed and honored by her service to Trinity as Deacon.

The Rev. Theorphlis (Top) Borden, the first Black woman ordained to the diaconate in the Diocese of Southern Ohio, died on Saturday, January 17th.

Deacon Top was an influential leader in and beyond the diocese, deeply connected to the communities she served. She served several Southern Ohio congregations as deacon: Trinity Episcopal Church in Hamilton, Ascension and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wyoming, and at her raising congregation, St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church in Lincoln Heights. She was a close friend and colleague of our former presiding bishop, the Rt. Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, and served as deacon of the table at his consecration at the National Cathedral in Washington DC.

A funeral service will be held next Wednesday, February 4th at Christ Church Cathedral at 11 am.
