Wise words from Zion in Tipp City:

Please be advised of our expectations regarding children during worship at Zion Lutheran Church:

If you’re running late because getting everyone out the door was a battle, please still come to worship.
If your kids are loud, please still come to worship.
If your toddler won’t sit still, please still come to worship.
If your baby needs to eat or is fussy, please still come to worship.
If your child asks questions at the least convenient moment, please still come to worship.
If someone cries, drops a toy, or has to make their third trip to the bathroom, please still come to worship.
If your child doesn’t know all the prayers, responses, or exactly when to sit or stand, please still come to worship.
If you’re worried your children are distracting the people around you, please still come to worship.

Children do not learn how to be part of the Church by staying home until they can sit quietly. They learn by being here!

They learn that the church is their home because we make room for them here. The wiggles, whispers, crying babies, and little voices are signs that the church is alive!

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Matthew 19:14

So bring the babies. Bring the toddlers. Bring the big kids. Sit where the little ones can see. Step out when you need to, but always come back in.

At Baptism we promised to help bring these children up to the Lord. They belong here. They need the example of their parents, and the love and patience of their church family.

Each week, as we transition from The Gospel to the Children’s Sermon, we sing The Doxology. But what does the word “Doxology” mean? Someone in our congregation recently asked, and we have the answer for you!

Derived from the Greek word doxologia, combining doxa (meaning "glory" or "praise") and logia or logos (meaning "word" or "speaking"). “Doxology” literally translates to "words of glory" or a spoken expression of praise.

If you have any questions about our service or liturgy you’ve always wondered about, drop them in the comment section, and we’ll have our team of experts explain!

Tomorrow is God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday and one way we are responding is collecting reusable bags for our hunger ministries. If you have a few extra bags at home, please bring them to church to donate!

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the lives lost and hold all who mourn in prayer.

In the days following 9/11, our global Lutheran partners shared words of prayer and solidarity:

"We join you in the spiritual battle and prayer for forgiveness and love knowing that the battle is not ours but God's, and that the truth and God's victory will always prevail." —LWF Regional Office for Africa (Kenya)

"May there be ways to comfort the mourners as well as the survivors, and may the church be part of that work. May all the deceased rest in peace." —Church of Sweden

"Your pain is our pain. We were shocked to watch this unprecedented act of violence and terrorism. We therefore share your sadness and sorrow for the loss of so many innocent lives." —Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan

"May God help us resist the forces of evil and spread peace in the world." —Protestant Church of the Augsburg Confession of Alsace and Lorraine
