Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church

Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church Buffalo Ridge is the Sunday place to be! Historic Past - Bright Future This is the Statement of Faith that our church holds to.

The Holy Scriptures

We believe in the verbal (every word) and plenary (complete) inspiration of God’s Word. We believe God’s Word is the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in it’s entirety, God-breathed, and the supreme standard. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God in English today and will be the only version used at our Church. (II Timothy 3:15-17; Psalm 119

:160; Romans 15:4; II Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19; Psalm 12:6-7)
The Godhead

We believe there is one and only one living and true God, manifested in the unity of the Godhead: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. We believe the Godhead is co-equal in power and glory, co-eternal in being and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Exodus 20:2,3; I Corinthians 8:6; I John 5:7; Revelation 4:11; Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14)
The Person and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, perfect God and perfect man; that He is God manifested in the flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. We believe He lived a sinless life on earth; that He died on Calvary’s cross and shed His precious blood as a satisfactory sacrifice for sinners; that His body was buried and he arose the third day. We believe He ascended to Heaven and He is coming again for His own. (Isaiah 7:14; II Corinthians 5:21; Matthew 1:18-25; John 16:7-8; I Peter 1:18-19)
The Creation and Fall of Man

We believe that man was created by a direct of God and not by any evolutionary process (Genesis 2:7); that man was created in God’s own image, but through his transgression sin entered into the world, and death by sin—not only physical death—but spiritual death, which is conscious and eternal separation from God; and that consequently, his posterity inherit a corrupt nature, being born in sin under its condemnation. (Genesis 3:6-19; Romans 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9)
Salvation

We believe that a person is saved when he repents of his sin and by faith receives the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. We believe salvation is a gift of eternal life wholly by the grace of God without any merit or works. We believe the atonement of Christ is not limited, but that God desires all to be saved. (I Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; II Peter 3:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 1:7)
Heaven

We believe in an actual place called Heaven where God’s immediate presence is manifested, where angels dwell, and where the redeemed who are justified by faith in Jesus Christ shall ultimately dwell. (John 14:1-3; Revelation 21-22:6)
Hell

We believe in a literal, burning Hell and that the Lake of Fire and Brimstone shall be the place of eternal punishment for Satan, fallen angels, demons, and the unbelieving dead. (Mark 9:42-48; Luke 16:22-26; Revelation 20:12-15; Revelation 21:8)
The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the bodily, personal, premillenial and imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ into the air to catch away all believers unto Himself before the tribulation period. We also believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Christ to the earth, with believers, at the close of the tribulation period to judge the nations and to set up His millennial Kingdom on earth. (Acts 1:11; John 14:3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 24:42-44)

YOU'VE PRAYED. BUT DO YOU REALLY EXPECT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN?

Let's be honest: a lot of times we pray, and we don't really expect anything to happen. So maybe the one word missing from our prayers is the simplest one. Believing.

We're supposed to pray according to His will, but we're also supposed to pray in faith, actually believing He's going to do what we're asking.

Think about asking someone for a favor. There are people you ask fully confident they'll come through, and there are people you ask with no real hope at all, and usually you're right.

So faith in prayer means coming to God the way you'd come to someone you completely trust. We've all believed in people who let us down, but He invites us to bring Him that same believing trust anyway.

But before any of that, one question comes first: are we abiding in Christ? And then the harder one: when we pray, are we really trusting God, or just checking off boxes?

Maybe it sounds like this: "I've got someone I love who doesn't believe, so I know I'm supposed to pray for them." But are we really believing God will work in their life, draw them, and save them? Or are we just doing our Christian duty?

And sometimes the proof we reach for is, "I've been praying for them for years." But years of praying can quietly turn into reporting that we prayed instead of really believing.

Instead, pray and really mean it. Come to God believing He's going to do what you've asked: “Ye shall receive.”

We can't make it through life's problems on our own. We were never meant to! You can try and muster up as much strength as you can within yourself, but it won't be enough. You must lean on the Lord and ask for His strength and help. He is offering it freely!
