Greater Taylor Chapel AME Church Franklin, Kentucky Beliefs. It was originally located on West Madison Street (Simpson County Lumber Company). The small congregation worshipped at this location for eighty years.

The AME motto, "God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, Holy Spirit Our Comforter, Humankind Our Family", reflects the basic beliefs of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Greater Taylor Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1865, and is the oldest African American church in Franklin and is the only African American Methodist Church in Simpson County. In 1945, the building was destroyed by fire and the location was changed to the present site.
