In the tiny town of Glendale, Kentucky, you can find The Whistle Stop, a beloved family-owned restaurant serving hearty Southern cooking beside the railroad tracks. Although the building resembles an old-fashioned depot, it actually began as a grocery store before becoming the hardware store operated by founders James and Idell Sego. Idell started selling sandwiches there, and the small lunch business eventually grew into the restaurant visitors know today. James chose The Whistle Stop name because passing trains regularly sounded their whistles nearby.
