đź’ś A Heartfelt Thank You to Pastor Ralph and First Lady Jill Hale! đź’ś

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Pastor Ralph Hale and First Lady Jill Hale for inviting me to participate as a panelist at the Community Outreach Cancer Awareness Event held at St. Paul Baptist Church in Bethlehem, PA, on Saturday, October 24.

It was a privilege to be part of an event focused on raising awareness, sharing information, and strengthening our community. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to learn valuable information from my fellow panelists. We are better equipped to serve others when we come together, share knowledge, and learn from one another.

This experience continues to fuel my purpose and passion for amplifying the voices of grievers and helping people navigate grief resulting from loss, trauma, and significant life changes.

At Your Voice Heard, LLC, we recognize that grief is not limited to the death of a loved one. It can arise from a diagnosis, changes in health, family transitions, and other life experiences that deeply affect us.

Our mission is to help people feel heard, find hope, and heal.

Thank you again, Pastor Ralph and First Lady Jill, for the invitation and for providing a space where meaningful conversations and community connections can flourish.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE “THE GRIEF WE CARRY” A MEANINGFUL AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!

On October 22, 2026, we came together in West Philadelphia for “The Grief We Carry: Black and Brown Families Navigating Disability, Loss, and Hope”—a whole-person symposium for families, advocates, practitioners, and policymakers.

This gathering was a reminder that families navigating disability and caregiving may carry grief, changing dreams, unanswered questions, and experiences that are not always recognized or understood. We created space to listen, learn, connect, and explore how we can better support one another.

Jamiel Owens, Founder of Ausomness Inc., thank you for an exceptional collaborative opportunity! Your partnership with ABA Centers of Pennsylvania and Your Voice Heard, LLC helped bring this important conversation to life.

A heartfelt thank you to PA State Representative Joe Hohenstein for serving as our guest speaker and contributing to this important discussion.

Thank you to Monica Fielder for being on-site and providing support.

We are grateful to PHMC for providing a beautiful venue in West Philadelphia, where resource vendors could share valuable information and attendees could engage in safe, intimate conversations throughout the presentations and panel discussions.

To our wonderful panelists—Tiara Waterman, Klarissa Spencer, Deborah McMillan, Ricktesha Hall, and Melissa DiSipio—thank you for your willingness to share your personal and professional experiences, holistic insights, and policy recommendations. Your voices helped make this symposium informative, thoughtful, and meaningful.

Thank you to the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy for providing participants with the opportunity to earn 1 continuing education credit.

And finally, to our participants: Thank you for your openness, your questions, your stories, and your willingness to connect with others. Hearing that you left feeling informed, empowered, inspired, and connected was one of the greatest gifts of the day.

We are grateful for every partner, speaker, panelist, vendor, and attendee who helped make this possible.

May we continue to honor the experiences of Black and Brown families, strengthen our partnerships, and create spaces where every family feels heard, supported, and hopeful.

With gratitude,

Dr. Marilyn Pendelton

What a wonderful Wednesday morning in NYC! đź—˝

A special thank you to Michelle Snow for inviting me to a private event at Amazon in Manhattan.

The conversations with the panelists and moderators around health and wellness, integrated health, and AI were engaging and thought-provoking. I was equally inspired by the stories shared by the speakers and members of the audience.

Events like this remind me that networking, collaboration, and a growth mindset can open doors to both career development and entrepreneurial expansion.

I’m truly grateful for the invitations, connections, and opportunities to continue learning, growing, and collaborating.

And yes… I’m always grateful for another reason to return to NYC! ❤️🗽

Grateful. Honored. Encouraged. ❤️

I am deeply grateful to Gwynedd Mercy University (GMercyU) for acknowledging my journey as an alumna, adjunct faculty member, dissertation advisor, and author in the recent Griffin’s Den feature, “GMercyU Alumna and Faculty Member Publishes Book on Grief.”

This recognition is especially meaningful because GMercyU has been such an important part of my journey as a scholar, educator, and servant leader.

The book grew from a desire to bring awareness to the many people who experience grief silently and may not have the language, knowledge, or support to understand what they are carrying.

I am thankful to GMercyU for recognizing this work and for being part of the journey that helped shape it.

From student… to alumna… to faculty member… to author.

What a full-circle moment. đź’™

Thank you, Gwynedd Mercy University, for seeing the work and honoring the journey.

This past Monday, I had the distinct honor of serving at the 1st Responders Mental Health & Wellness Conference in Wilmington, Delaware, where I presented:

“Beyond the Uniform: Grief, Connection, and Emotional Resilience in the Public Safety Community.”

I was grateful to listen to both the inspiring and heart-wrenching testimonies of first responders and their families. Behind every uniform is a person—and behind every first responder is often a family who experiences sacrifice, loss, uncertainty, and significant life changes alongside them.

We must do more to recognize and support the grief that can result from traumatic events, loss, and significant life changes experienced by first responders and their families.

This work is personal to my mission. My commitment is to help bring greater awareness, grief education, and meaningful support to the public safety community while helping influence policies that recognize grief as an important part of mental health and wellness.

The relationships and connections I made at this conference will help me continue moving this work forward. I am grateful for every conversation, testimony, and opportunity to connect.

And a BIG SHOUT-OUT to Shawn Thomas and her incredible team for creating a space where first responders, families, professionals, and advocates could come together around mental health and wellness. ❤️

My hope is that this important conference will eventually make its way to Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The work continues.

We must see beyond the uniform. We must acknowledge the grief. We must strengthen connection. And we must equip our first responders and their families with the support they deserve.

✨ What an AMAZING day! ✨

The Montgomery County Inaugural Black Author & Business Expo on Saturday, August 22, was truly outstanding! 🙌🏾📚

A special shoutout to Dr. Veirdre Jackson and her incredible team for creating such a warm, welcoming, and exceptionally well-organized event. Your vision and hard work were evident in every detail! 👏🏾

I was blessed to connect with fellow authors, entrepreneurs, and business owners and celebrate the incredible talent in our community. And what a surprise to see familiar faces! Gwynedd Mercy University EdD students, members of 215 Church, NSA Philadelphia, and Macedonia Baptist Church in Norristown were all in the house! ❤️

I also had the opportunity to learn about The Black Reserve Bookstore, the only Black-owned bookstore in Montgomery County. 📚🖤 What a wonderful resource for authors, readers, and our community!

There is something powerful about being surrounded by people who are writing, building, creating, and making an impact.

Congratulations, Dr. Veirdre Jackson and team, on an amazing inaugural expo! I am grateful to have been part of it and look forward to the next event! 🎉👏🏾

I'm inviting a small group of readers to read The Grief Reset before anyone else does. 👇

Joining the ARC Team means: you get the book early, you read it in the days before launch, and afterward you leave an honest review — not a positive one, an honest one.

If you've been carrying grief the church never gave you language for, this one's for you.

Applications close Friday, August 21.

You are allowed to heal slowly.

You are allowed to need care, too — not just give it. Whatever this week carried, you don't have to have it figured out by Monday.

No hard sell today. Just this: if you want a private place to start, the free Reflection Guide is linked in bio.

Faith does not require pretending.

You can bring God your real anger, your real exhaustion, your real doubt — and still be faithful. Honest prayer and emotional truth were never meant to compete. Psalm 139 puts it plainly: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."

Faith meets feelings. It was never faith versus feelings.

Save this one. And when you're ready, the free Reflection Guide at thegriefreset.com is a private place to start.
