This past Sunday we learnt all about Chanukah in Hebrew school! Each class got to decorate dreidels differently! K-1 used paint and vinyl decals, 2-3 hyrodipped their driedels using nailpolish, 4-5 bedazzled their driedels, and 6-7 used gold foil to create incredible master pieces! Looking forward to next Sunday and our oil press and Chanukah press!

This week, we learned about the very first Jewish people, Avraham and Sarah, who were known for their incredible kindness. They opened their tent to travelers in the hot desert, welcoming guests from all directions and giving them everything they needed.
In class, we built our own “tent” with four doors like Avraham and Sarah’s, so we could welcome guests from every side! We acted out their story, played Kindness Bingo to practice solving real-life situations with kindness, and talked about ways we can be kind like they were.
To bring that kindness home, we made Kindness Boxes - a special place to leave treats and supplies for delivery workers who visit our homes. Parents, can you help your child choose a good spot for the box and fill it with thoughtful items? Here are some ideas we came up with together: water bottles, packaged snacks or candy, mini hand sanitizers, or small packs of Band-Aids.
Thank you for helping your child share Avraham and Sarah’s beautiful legacy of kindness!

Today Rabbi Hillel’s class went on the first of many Mitzvah Trips! They baked and delivered delicious treats for our local heroes and got a taste of what it’s like to always be on call to do a mitzvah! Thank you to the Fort Washington fire department for having us today!

This Sunday we had lots of fun activities that help us learn and understand the story of Yericho, the first city the Jews conquered when entering the land of Israel! We built the walls of Yericho, reenacted the crumbling of the walls, and made stress balls with the reminder that Hashem Is our power and our strength! Looking forward to another great week ahead!

Hope to see you at Yom Kippur services tomorrow! We will have family services at 10:30 followed by a juggling show, kids program, and lunch!
