James 1:14-15 says “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”

James tells us here that what really is at the root of all our sinful behavior, and the temptation that leads to sin, is the desire in our own hearts. Desire—or more precisely, controlling desire—is what leads to sin of all types.

The process usually looks something like this:

1. A person experiences a desire that is not satisfied in the way they want (or, not satisfied at all).

2. Typically, such a person repeatedly experiences that desire not being met as anticipated. As they experience repeated disappointment over their desire not being met, they begin to experience discouragement and eventually despair. They begin to believe they will never receive the anticipated outcome.

3. That person then reaches the conclusion that the unsatisfied desire is of such great importance to them that they are willing to do anything to satisfy it. By this point, the person is so tired of waiting that they are willing to do whatever is necessary to get their desires met.

What does the Bible teach about gender?

Scripture tells us that God created all of his image-bearers as either male or female (Genesis 1:27). There is nothing in the Bible that leads one to conclude that gender is distinct from birth s*x, or that gender is on a continuum from male to female, or that gender evolves over the course of time. Babies born boys in Scripture are called boys from birth and grow up to be men. Babies born girls grow up to be women. Birth s*x and gender, according to Scripture, are one and the same concept.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” - Ephesians 6:12-13

On October 14, 2025, Matt Walsh posted on X, “Transgenderism is effectively over. We destroyed it. Clearest and most decisive cultural win that conservatives have ever achieved.” But does the data really show that young people are rapidly abandoning these labels and identities?

In our latest article, Harvest USA President Mark Sanders takes a closer look at the cultural moment, evaluating if we can really determine if the transgender trend is over. He challenges us to look past cultural narratives to remember the real suffering our brothers and sisters with loved ones embracing transgender identities are facing. Finally, he calls the church to stand fearlessly for God’s truth without losing our zeal to reach the lost around us, knowing that whatever opposition the culture throws at us, we’ve been given a kingdom that cannot be shaken (Hebrews 12:28).

Many Christians may be wondering whether the transgender trend is over. But our hope will always be found in our heavenly citizenship.

One of the crucial ways we understand how the Scriptures speak about human s*xuality is to read them through the lens of the first three chapters of Genesis.

Genesis 1 and 2 acts as the foundational structure for all of creation, like a good foundation supports the whole house. What we read here is considered normative.

Genesis 3, however, tells us how the foundation started to break and come apart because of the Fall of Adam and Eve. After Genesis 3, whatever “is” cannot be declared “normal” anymore. Following the Fall, man and creation have been in a continual state of disorder and disobedience.

Many husbands struggling with po*******hy talk about how great their marriages are apart from one issue. Men have an uncanny ability to compartmentalize and downplay the impact of their sin on their marriages. Hiding this sin and never talking about it creates a very powerful illusion that things are great, but this backfires in the end. The more a wife believes her husband is being faithful, the greater the disappointment, hurt, and sense of betrayal once she finds out that’s not true.

How can the church help Christian’s struggling with same-s*x attraction?

It requires a plan, a focus, a strategy, just as it would to try to reach anyone caught in life-dominating problems. We can no longer negate or deny the fact that our people are increasingly bringing a multitude of scars and open wounds regarding s*x and s*xuality into their relationship with Christ.

What is generally happening “out there” is also impacting folks in the pew. No one escapes falling for the false appeal of sin.

The primary place to begin is in our own congregations. Equipping youth leaders and church leaders to engage in conversations about these struggles while inviting strugglers into intentional discipleship to help them grow in their walk with Christ.
