God's Kingdom will be victorious over all kingdoms.

God's covenant of love is eternal. He chose us because He chose us and He loves us because He is love. We will never lose His love.

Do you find your identity only in Jesus?Jesus offers us both forgiveness of our sins and acceptance.

God desires us to commune with Him. Sin is a barrier to an intimate relationship with God. Deep recognition of God's righteousness leads to deep repentance which leads to deep joy.

What are not giving over to God?

Therefore tell the people; This is what the Lord Almighty says, Return to me declares the Lord Almighty, and I will return to you, says the Lord Almighty. - Zechariah 1:3

God's love should make us tremble with awe. Are you loving God well?

Don't treat God's love as something we earn or are entitled to. His love is an unconditional, faithful love.

Love God with your mind and honor His name.

God's faithful covenant of love binds us to Him. It should encourage us to run to Him with all our fears and struggles, and expect Him to love us unconditionally.

But for you who revere my name, the sun of rightenousness will rise with healing in its rays, And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. - Malachi 4:2

Work = participation in God's restoration.

God wants us to persevere in our work and commit to Him. Our perspective makes a difference in our work.

Celebrate God's promises and faithfulness - be joyful of His promises and His faithfulness.

God is faithfully working through our work.

For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. -
Ephesians 2:8-10

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. - 1 Corinthians 15:58

We are in great distress because of our sin and we deserve judgement. Until we get to the heart of the issue, we will never truly repent.

We need to grasp hold of the gospel in a fresh way. We are forgiven. Jesus paid it all. He came to vindicate God's name in mercy.

In all that has happened to us, You, God, have remained righteous; you God have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly. - Nehemiah 9:33

Repentance includes identifying and eleminating idols of the heart. Every moment of our mercy was bought by the blood of Jesus.

You do not have to be good, you just have to put your faith and trust in the one who is good - Jesus Christ!

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. -
Romans 3: 23-24

Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put Him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”

Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).

Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that He had said these things to her.

Wishing you a blessed and meaningful Holy Week as you reflect on the Jesus connection in our Exile and Return study. Living faithfully for God requires hearing, knowing, and understanding God’s Word. In this week’s passage, Ezra prayerfully read and explained the law. The people listened to God’s Word, grieved their sin, rejoiced over God’s loving provision, and worshipped God. Nehemiah and Ezra led the people to spiritual rejuvenation. God remains faithful to His people and He continues to patiently and persistently call us to remain faithful to Him. Just as Nehemiah rebuilt the wall, each time we look into the word of God or spend time with Him, we are building the bricks of our “identity wall” in Him. We can have great joy as we abide in Him and we can share this joy with the world.

Nehemiah said, “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

"The joy of the Lord is your strength" - Nehemiah 8:10. His joy. God delights in us. God validates us not others. The praise of the praise worthy one is above all. God is the ultimate praise giver!

All identities outside of Jesus Christ are unstable. They are not build on a firm foundation.

In Christ, we receive an identity, we do not achieve it. Our identity is built on what Christ did for us, not what we do for God. When we understand our identity in Christ, we can feel secure in Him.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship. Do not confirm to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing, and perfect will. - Romans 12:1-2

When you know your core identity is in Christ, you do not have to do everything, we can have great joy in Him.

Suffering bonds us and brings us together. "Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." - 2 Timothy 3:12

Pray to God and pour out your heart to Him and then take action. Praying and action go together.

"But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat. - Nehemiah 4:9

"What you are doing is not right. Shouldn't you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies? - Nehemiah 5:9

Pray to God to strengthen us to do His work dispite opposition or suffering.

God is sovereign but there is still human responsibility. What we do matters in our suffering.

God is fighting for me and loves me, even if I don't feel it!

Suffering can happen to you for a long time. How we understand it is how we will handle it.

How is God equipping you to handle suffering?

God is our light house, the light of the world, unchanging, faithful, and true to His word.

We are prone to wander from God. God tells us to adjust our course back to Him.

Freedom and joys come from bearing our cross. Freedom to not be in control, God is! Freedom to confess our sins to God. Freedom from comparsion.

Where is God calling you? Everyone is needed to do the work God calls us to do.

God adjusted for us. Jesus left heaven to come to earth to pay our sins on the cross. He came to give His life so we could have eternal life with God.

Where do you need to adjust!

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 15:13.

Pick up your cross and adjust your life to God's will.

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23 If you took the doctrine of the cross seriously, what would you do differently?

We have a sure victory in Jesus. He is fighting for us now and has already won! God's protection is intimate and personal.

For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory. - Deuteronomy 20:4

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble - Psalm 46:1

God is active now. He is the only one qualified to save, judge, and restore us. He knows exactly when His plans will take place and the outcome.

I am significant to God and deeply loved.

He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:4

Our repentance comes as a gift from God. Our greatest need is a Savior who will cleanse us from our sins; and that savior is Jesus Christ.

I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord - Psalm 116:1

The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation - Psalm 117:14
